passed through air space monitored by the Los Angeles Air Route Traffic Control Center and appears to have overloaded a computer system at the center...Computers at the center began operations to prevent the U-2 from colliding with other aircraft, even though the U-2 was flying at an altitude of 60,000 feet and other airplanes passing through the region's air space were miles below, NBC reported.
One plane, nowhere near any other planes. Soooo...what happens when there really is a plane on a collision course with another plane? And we trust our lives with this kind of software??? Then again, I'm surprised this hasn't been chalked up to a UFO or a Klingon cruiser descending to San Francisco to rescue the whales.
It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman...no, it's a U-2!

You just know that the system was designed with current airliners as test data and the U2's flight characteristics caused an integer overflow somewhere.

You mean, the altitude was 65537 feet?

... and the other 21% are so burned out they no longer care?
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

The dream of producing hydrocarbon fuels from carbon dioxide and sunlight is one step closer thanks to chemists in Europe who have made jet fuel from scratch in a solar reactor for the first time. Just remember, the third act is called The Prestige.

If the dream is still hydrocarbon fuel, then we are still having a nightmare.
My dream is a non-hydrocarbon fuel that is low-cost, and provides effective transportation, without ruining the air we breathe.
Last I heard, H2 (Hydrogen) fuel is somewhere in the ballpark with that.
I'm still waiting to see how much of the "H" in "H2" is "Hype" and how much is truly "Hopeful"

How does, say natural gas, ruin air when burnt?

Good point.
Just edited my comment
added "non-hydrocarbon"
My Opinion: As long as we are chasing the next great supply of dead dinosaurs to get our motor fuel; we continue the nightmare.

You misunderstand, why is a hydrocarbon fuel such as natural gas a nightmare, why does it ruin the atmosphere?
When it burns it produces water and co2, its very clean, not like sulphurous coal or lignite for example.

Because it's a hydrocarbon, that's why.
That's how we got here to this point today: using hydrocarbon fuels.
I would like to see us using a fuel that doesn't require drilling, or searching, for such a scarce resource; a resource which is (possibly, arguably, whatever) dwindling in supply, and which will inexorably rise in price in a manner that will have significantly negative results for the overwhelming majority of the population.
Sure, natural gas is clean stuff.
That's not the point.
It's still a hydrocarbon, and it is closely related to petroleum.
Any hydrocarbon fuel shares the same negative consequences; and those consequences propagate far and wide to just about everybody in the economy.
That's my point: we should seek a non-hydrocarbon fuel.

What 'point today'?
C-P-User-3 wrote: I would like to see
As soon as the cost exceeds a supportable figure alternative fuels will take their place; capitalism dictates this.
C-P-User-3 wrote: Any hydrocarbon fuel shares the same negative consequences
What negative consequences? And no, coal is bad because its sulphurous and produces soot. Gas is very clean burning so they are not all the same.

You both misunderstand each other!
He is implying the problem due to Global Warming!
You are ignoring them, maybe because you don't "believe" in it, or simply realize this will take it carbon from the atmosphere to start with and will it back, no more, no less, hence it's not very relevant to global warming (which he didn't consider, apparently)

Oh, and don't mention GW here, its a taboo subject and gets people upset.

With respect to apps, opinions and reviews also affect how visible they will be in app store search results and how likely they will be featured on the app store. #6 - Don't suck.
