I thought the cloud was the new VSS. At least it's the new GUI for VSS, right?

To be fair I'm using Visual Studio Online at the moment for a project and I think it's really feckin good. They do an insanely impressive job of combining source control, code reviews, task management etc, to the point where you can check in code against a task, and then have a code review of that task's code all in the one place. Really nice.

Today in “putting stuff onto things on which they don’t belong,” we present a user, xyq058775, and his exciting admission that he installed Windows 95 on a brand new iPhone. "Because it's there"
|

Dude! I bet that iPhone flies with Win95 on it.
Totally righteous.
Except he can't make calls or get apps or do anything but it's all good.
And the extremely good thing (I'm not kidding): He can't run iTunes on there.
I will not mention anyone who may be rolling over in his grave right now.

I have an Office 95 CD kicking around here somewhere...

Because someone else already ported Linux to a toaster?
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Buuuut... Connect[^] is an HP thing; how can Microsoft use it?

Ah, but this is the totally much cooler connect();. Not some stogy old Connect.

You say "cool" like it's a good thing. "Cool" causes instability, boom-bust cycles.
The world economy runs on stodgy.

I'll add {sarcasm}cool{/sarcasm} next time
There. That might make more sense than my original. I'm with you - when a corporation attempts to be cool, people hurt (I should break NDA and tell you about a new 'cool' tool we're using at another job. It's no end of enjoyment. Or rather enjoyment.)

At a recent event on its Redmond campus, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella detailed his views on what Google and Apple do best. No chairs were kicked in the production of this message

Nadella said: Whereas in our case [Microsoft] our identity really is about empowering others to build products. It’s not really about us and our products.
I am a developer so I like that.
But, is this the next headline?

Windows 10 was unveiled on September 30, 2014 as a technical preview for individuals that signed up to become a Windows Insider. Since the release, we’ve seen a lot of coverage from media outlets regarding new features that end-users will be excited about, but very little coverage for developers. In this post, I’m going to point out several things that caught my eye as a developer that works daily with the Microsoft stack. Because it's all about us

In other words, Microsoft has shared very little info about the programming model as yet, so here's some random stuff we decided to package into an article.

You may have heard the saying, “You can’t catch stupid” — meant to console you that idiocy is not contagious. But, as it turns out, in a small way it might be. This explains so much.

Today marks the 31st birthday of Windows 1.0. On November 10, 1983, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates unveiled Windows 1.0 to the world. This operating system required only two floppy disks and 192KB of RAM in order to function. Windows 1.0 would ship to consumers for $99 only two years later after its unveiling. Because everyone needs to watch that Ballmer commercial again
