After spending months on revisions, YouTube confirmed today that it will launch a paid subscription service that lets users stream high-quality, ad-free music and music videos. All the cat videos the world needs, for pennies a day

The investors.
Ads are not generating enough revenues, and there are people who will pay to not see them.

They're google. why would they care if anyone asked them to?

I care about neither answer nor the question.
Though I have heard that the silence will fall when the question is answered. (Or is that asked? I don't know. Whatever.)

I don't have ads in my youtube-video's. Simply update your hosts-file

You can stop the interstitials with a hosts entry? What's the entry look like?

Dunno which entry; it must be one from the mvps[^] file as far as I can tell.
It blocks some ad-servers (and malware-servers) at the IP level, making them inaccesible regardless of the application requesting it.

Wow! I am gonna try that. Thanks!
Your time will come, if you let it be right.

Nice. I block other stuff "for my own good" from mine and use adblock+ + ghostery for the rest.
Do you have a loopback ad blocking hosts file reference you like? I imagine there are probably a bunch of them kicking around on ye olde innert00bz

|
|

A few others that might be interesting;
If you download them all you'll get some double entries. There are utilities available for merging and keeping them up to date.

Awesome! Thanks for the list.
Eh. If I can't manage to dedupe some hosts files then I need to hang it up as a programmer. I'll just bang that out in emacs.

OmniSharp is a family of Open Source projects, each with one goal - To enable great .NET development in YOUR editor of choice. Whatever happened to 'Embrace and Extinguish'?

Is this along the same lines as sharpdevelop/[^]
"There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies. The first method is far more difficult." - C.A.R. Hoare

Don't think so. #Dev is a full IDE; Omnisharp appears to be bindings to do .net in sublime/emacs/vim/etc.

This is the first full preview of what we used to call Visual Studio “14.” Even if you’ve been following the earlier CTPs, you’ll find some new things in here, including a new Visual Studio Emulator for Android and support for building Android applications using C++ based off of Clang and LLVM. So much Visual Studio. Many IDE. Wow.

A native Android emulator in Visual Studio? Wow indeed!

Are they actually going to release a VS2014, or are all the VS2014 CTPs going to end up like the Windows 96 previews MS did waaaay back in the day to various trademags?

Today is a huge day for .NET! We’re happy to announce that .NET Core will be open source, including the runtime as well as the framework libraries. *That's* how they wrote that?

What a wonderful day! The Xplatform support announcement also has me rockin'!
