Screw 'em. I'm moving back to OS/2.

Oh, now I've got nostalgia for the Bzzzzzzzzzzz-bt-Bzzzzzzzzzzz-bt Bzz-bt-Bzz-bt-Bzz-bt of floppies registering!
Not so much that I actually want to use them, though

That's probably where all their best developers have gone.
God knows that the ones working on windows and office now are seriously sub-par.

I don't know wether it's developers' fault or management's. A single component failure is usually a sign of poor developer work (which may or may not be related to poor developer skills) but a complete product's quality depends heavily on management, and I think that is of unacceptable quality - starting from its head.

IIRC in one update MS blocked editing of hosts. I may be wrong, though.

I never touched Win10, but I'm going out on a limb and say you're wrong.
Editing the file requires (local) admin-rights.

So basically the management at Microsoft gets together, throws a few chairs around, screams at their employees, and yells "people hate us!" So what can we do to make them TOTALLY LOATHE US?
Pathetic. Absolutely disgraceful.
|
|
|
|
|
Additional: what I mean by pathetic is that Microsoft COULD have the greatest thing in the world, Windows 10 could be the best OS ever. But they choose to deliberately screw it up and piss off their customers. They do it on purpose. The spyware, the ads... That's what's pathetic. Greedy managers who are out of touch with reality.
I've been a huge fanboy of Microsoft since the early 1980's, and they never pass up an opportunity to kick me in the face.
I'm done.

Go launched a survey last year and we never heard back from them. Now it’s time for the big unveiling — let’s see how many people use Go at work and how many experiment with it outside of work. "Do not collect $200"
|
|
|
|

Quote: Over 3,500 people participated in Go’s 2016 survey OK, that's about a couple-of-hundred-thousandth of the number of VB users, and a kajiillionth of C# users.
Hell, a COBOL survey would get more hits.

That survey was depressing for C#. Thankfully all surveys are FAKE NEWS!!!

If it wasn't blatantly obvious from the top results in the survey, Jaxenter is a very java centric site. Do the same here and you'd probably see Java and C# swap spots.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Qualcomm and Microsoft demonstrated Windows Server on Qualcomm's 10nm ARM processors. The collaboration will cover future generations of hardware and software. Maybe if we ask nice, they'll port it to MIPS again

A high-ranking female programmer!
I wonder where she's from.
(Point of possible interest: her name is probably Li Fei, but it's common in China to repeat (one of) the given name(s), QED Fei-Fei -- my wife's given names are Yu Hua, so I call her Hua-Hua-Hua-Hua-Huaaaaa!)
(Then she hits me)

Pissing on their candle aside: if they're doing this with pseudo-3D interpretation of 2D images, rather than with metadata, it's actually pretty cool, and I'd like to get my paws on it.
