so this is what happens at msft.. some interns get to work on a major new browser project ..but they end up watching cat videos on youtube...and do not know what the heck to code .. as if you tube does not work on internet explorer .. a bad worker always blames his tools

Ironically, MS used to be accused of doing this kind of thing when the desktop was where it was at and they were top dog.

What a ridiculous claim. The guy is obviously trying to salvage his career by blaming his c0ck-ups on someone else.
ms didn't need any help at all in turning its browser into a dog.

In recent years, researchers have found that the accuracy of the software gets better and better as they build deeper networks and amass larger data sets to train them. A landmark 2012 paper transformed how software recognizes images.

Have you ever been to a website where the back button just doesn't work? In these instances, you press "back" to go back but instead you just end up at the same page where you started. A new commit on the Chromium source (first spotted by 9to5Google) outlines a plan to stop weird website schemes like this Good. Whoever lives by the credo of "do no wrong" needs to meet more web developers.

Well, the ones that do that because Oh, No! Don't leave me! deserve it.
The ones that do that because it screws up keeping track of fields you've filled out...not so much.

Andrew Kim, the designer who first rose to prominence with a fan-made reimagining of Microsoft’s design language, has left his role as a senior designer at Tesla to join Apple. Can you imagine how much repairs on an Apple car would cost?
|
|
|
|

Yeah but it would be so well put together.
Just too bad if you needed to change the tyre. You'd have to go to an authorised Apple repairer in order for them to use their special Tyre Removal Tool.
I can imagine the iFixit score on that beast, too.

The car would use ideas from other cars already on the market (although they would credit themselves with them), repairs would need to be carried out only by fully qualified dealers using only Apple parts (at 3X the price for equivalent parts), and the engineer would need an entire toolbox of specialist Apple tools as industry standard ones won't be of any use.
That's the Apple way. Always has been, always will be

Not sure how I missed this one earlier today, but once again Leslie
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

No data encryption, no antivirus programs, no multifactor authentication mechanisms, and 28-year-old unpatched vulnerabilities are just some of the cyber-security failings described in a security audit of the US' ballistic missile system released on Friday by the US Department of Defense Inspector General (DOD IG). Shall we play a game?

I guess allowing audits, of secret military vulnerabilities, to go public could be added to that list

Brain scans of adolescents who are heavy users of smartphones, tablets and video games look different from those of less active screen users, preliminary results from an ongoing study funded by the National Institutes of Health show, according to a report on Sunday by “60 Minutes.” Kid, you don't even wanna see what my brain scan looks like.
