In the United States, the financial sector, major corporations and parts of the federal government still largely rely on COBOL because it underpins powerful systems that were built in the 70s or 80s and never fully replaced. "Shane. Shane! Come back! 'Bye, Shane."

In a scientific first, Columbia neuroengineers have created a system that translates thought into intelligible, recognizable speech. My thoughts could never be considered "intelligible"

Do these great brain-experts ever use their brains to think, just for a moment, just what it is they're doing?

So, my tinfoil hat isn't such a bad idea after all.

Ignorant - An individual without knowledge, but is willing to learn.
Stupid - An individual without knowledge and is incapable of learning.
Idiot - An individual without knowledge and allows social media to do the thinking for them.

No official announcement from Microsoft, but rumors and alleged descriptions of what it will be like have surfaced since December. This is a stripped-down OS; Windows on a budget. For now, the new flavor is being dubbed Windows Lite but the name may indeed change. Windows 7 2.0?

So it's windows for phones and tablets -- which is what they should have done all along, instead of forcing desktop and laptop users to suffer a stinking, ridiculous phone-interface gui.
I despair of these bloody idiots, I really do.

They're out of their :elpehant:ing minds. Even when Edge was running their in house engine 2GB of ram would be a very marginal platform (and Edge was a relative miser at ram consumption); with Edge turning into just another Chrome clone they've guaranteed that the most heavily used class of application will crush the system and grind it to a halt as it desperately tries to swap data on and off of the glacially slow 32gb eMMC the 2gb ram race to the bottom turds will be crippled with.
Maybe they can mitigate the issue by going back to the IE6 model of only 1 page per browser instance and make their new browser a single instance app.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

A major flaw in Apple’s FaceTime feature allowing callers to eavesdrop on call recipients was widely publicized yesterday, close to three months after the flaw may have been introduced. They were busy testing all the dongles their users need?

It's dongle envy that makes them buy apple.

I'll wager that like Microsoft, they think automated testing replaces human testing.

By "automated testing", do you mean "automated forced updates, so the suckers can do our testing for us"?
