Coinomi wallet bug sends users' secret passphrases to Google's Spellcheck API via HTTP, in plaintext. It's just a public service. They wanted to make sure you spelled '123456' correctly

|
|
|
|
And then it autocorrects your "misspelling", but you don't know this because it's underneath the ***************.

With this release, we’re introducing two product “channels”: the release channel and the preview channel. Starting today, Visual Studio 2019 RC is available in the release channel (visualstudio.com/downloads) and Visual Studio 2019 Preview 4 is available in the preview channel (visualstudio.com/preview). Both versions can be installed and used side-by-side and, right now, both channels contain the same bits. Because you deserve a lengthy install today

The Windows 10 Insider Preview Slow Ring—the beta track that's meant to receive only those builds that are free from any known serious problems—hasn't received an update for months. Sounds like the anti-cheat software works as designed?

"Allowing" the end users to be beta testers is much faster

Advances in the field of AI have enabled the development of tools that can understand a variety of languages and communicate with humans. However, there are still aspects of human communication that AI systems struggle with, one of which is humor. A hullabaloo over a gobbledygook boondoggle

This I believe. My computer mocks me everyday and I find no humor in it whatsoever.

Many modern laptops and an increasing number of desktop computers are much more vulnerable to hacking through common plug-in devices than previously thought, according to new research. Pass the epoxy
Perhaps that title should start, "All computers vulnerable to attack..."?

I'm sure they are studying this so one day they can put an end to these vulnerabilities. They call it, "The Peripheral Vision".

Yeah, I think it's hitting the news again because of the Thunderclap attack (against Thunderbolt connected devices). Beyond that, pretty common news, yeah.

I picked a WinForms application as an example. Steps for WPF application are similar and I’ll describe what needs to be done different for WPF as we go. Step 0: expect to rewrite with each new version (i.e. monthly)

Why does .Net core exist? What problem does it solve?

The old net framework code being too embarrassingly bad in places to open source.
Less cynically it gives a named demarcation point for the break between works everywhere and has tight coupling to windows features, removing/isolating the latter in Windows Compatibility libs makes it much easier to create a cross platform version. The same break lets them drop back compatibility in perverse edge cases for better performance and to actively remove features that proved to be bad ideas after being released to the world by declining to port them forward.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

It allowed Microsoft the opportunity the opportunity to throw away the cruft that had built up in the full framework (as well as provide something that can run on platforms other than Windows). With Core, there are effectively two big "advances".
1. Your application only gets the features it needs so, if you have something that uses one feature in what was a monolithic .NET assembly, you just bring in that feature and not the whole assembly. Of course, this does lead to the situation where you end up with a lot of assemblies being loaded.
2. Your application gets the platform specific version of features. As long as there's an appropriate assembly that can be linked to, you'll get the platform appropriate version of the feature; file writes being an example.
