Covert racism and sexism is bad enough (and it does indeed exist), but using overt racism and sexism as a means of compensating for the covert side is equally dangerous, and more that just a little hypocritical.

I may look like a white man, but I identify as a hispanic woman. If he doesn't mentor me, I'll sue him for discrimination.
His "sensitivities" are gonna start to get sticky, and smell funny.

Now THAT made me laugh out loud.

Quote: “It’s not just about writing the code, but you have stand up for your code and defend your code, and there is a certain male attitude that is endemic in many projects where a woman would just not feel comfortable claiming that she is right,” he explained. To suggest that women aren't capable of defending their code and that they need men like Guido is sheer arrogance and patronising to any woman in the field.
Quote: “The first time I heard the term unconscious bias was maybe five years ago and it was an eye opener.” It’s changed him, and he thinks it could change others. There is absolutely no scientific link between unconscious bias and behaviour, this is why it has never been used within a court room. What is inside someone's head is not important, it's what the person does and their behaviour that's important. After all, we can have certain thoughts in our head, but never act on them. And it's impossible to stop unconscious bias, seeing as it's unconscious and we are therefore not conscious of it.

In some ways it's even more problematic than explicit bigotry because it allows the person making the claims to appear virtuous.

Luckily, I am not interested in mentoring him on things other than the weird, flash-in-the-pan language, Python.
So there! Nyah, nyah, nyah!

Was there any question as to what I'd quote for this one? (I'm so boring and predictable. I need an AI to help.)

It still has to go through the House before it lands on the president's desk. That should stop almost one robocall from happening
|

But it won pass in the house, because, Trump would probably sign it, and we can't have anything happen in DC that would be misconstrued as "common ground", or "cooperation", or especially what's good for their constituents.
But big question - how in the hell do they implement any meaningful enforcement?

Part of the reason this is such a persistent myth is because Kay himself said it in 1998 An object-oriented rant (OOR)

While correctly stating that Simula predated Smalltalk, the article fails to account for earlier programs that had the concept of objects. They were fairly common in the LISP community (although the term OOP wasn't used), and Sutherland's famous Sketchpad program extensively used Objects and Templates (prototypes) in the 1960's.
All of which could have been seen with a tiny amount of Wikipedia research.

Ireland’s Data Protection Commission says its probe will examine whether Google’s processing of data in advertising transactions breaches EU privacy rules. You can't investigate what doesn't exist, can you?
I'm sure they're dreading another fine.
