What's the big deal? I've heard people were doing this back in the '60s with LSD.

The Windows Sandbox is a Windows 10 virtual machine that can be quickly launched so you can test downloaded programs, browsers extensions, and suspect sites without risk of infecting your normal Windows operating system. "Remember what happens to castles of sand"

Update: The sandbox is such a basic version of winio that it includes almost none of the cr@p that makes it the garbage that it is, so users have opted en masse to use it all the time, instead of the Best! Windows! Evah!

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Guido van Rossum is one of the world’s most influential programmers. Van Rossum is the author of the general-purpose programming language Python, which he started working on in 1989, and is now among the most popular languages in use. Seems ironic for a language that treats whitespace so significantly

Guido wrote: “It’s not just about writing the code, but you have stand up for your code and defend your code, and there is a certain male attitude that is endemic in many projects where a woman would just not feel comfortable claiming that she is right,” he explained. “A guy who knows less than that woman might honestly believe [he is right], so they present a much more confident image.” ..because men are supposedly better at defending, or what?
Any woman who works in science needs to withstand peer-pressure and defend their claims. None of them have complained yet about the unfair advantages of men.
If someone is not comfortable about claiming that they are right, it is usually not gender-based, but based on them judging theirself and their (lack of) knowledge. If you can explain why you are right, then that is a non-problem.

No, female scientists have complained about having a harder time than their male counterparts. Not too vocally for fear of retribution because academic fields tend to be small where everyone knows everyone, but I've come across them.
It probably also varies field to field, since they tend to be more insular and self-regulating

Covert racism and sexism is bad enough (and it does indeed exist), but using overt racism and sexism as a means of compensating for the covert side is equally dangerous, and more that just a little hypocritical.

Quote: “It’s not just about writing the code, but you have stand up for your code and defend your code, and there is a certain male attitude that is endemic in many projects where a woman would just not feel comfortable claiming that she is right,” he explained. To suggest that women aren't capable of defending their code and that they need men like Guido is sheer arrogance and patronising to any woman in the field.
Quote: “The first time I heard the term unconscious bias was maybe five years ago and it was an eye opener.” It’s changed him, and he thinks it could change others. There is absolutely no scientific link between unconscious bias and behaviour, this is why it has never been used within a court room. What is inside someone's head is not important, it's what the person does and their behaviour that's important. After all, we can have certain thoughts in our head, but never act on them. And it's impossible to stop unconscious bias, seeing as it's unconscious and we are therefore not conscious of it.
"There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies. The first method is far more difficult." - C.A.R. Hoare

In some ways it's even more problematic than explicit bigotry because it allows the person making the claims to appear virtuous.
