Apparently these efforts use various physical sources for random numbers. This project apparently aggregates these. However, I recently read an article which pointed out that over-randomizing and/or using too many sources often leads to less randomization, not more.

I can well believe that. Adding more "randomising factors" just makes the process more complicated -- but it's still a process, and therefore not random.

They use those to generate a number which should be as random as their sources.
And then a few sources are combined to generate an even more random number (because random + random = more random).
The only pitfall is that if you know the values of, say some seismograph, you can reconstruct the random numbers generated at that time.
So the random numbers aren't suited for security purposes, but can be used in other scenario's, like picking a winning lottery number.
Just because you can't think of a way to generate random numbers doesn't mean no one can...

Someone comes along every few years with wild claims of having invented "true computer randomness", but their claims only last a short time, until someone writes a routine that gives exactly the same results (without using 1960s tacky accoutrements or global indigestion).
Give it a month or two (or learn Z, and crack it yourself) (or program an AI to estimate the results) (or buy several pencils and a very thick notepad).

Oh, what utter bollocks.
The security risk has got sod all to do with holidays; it's public wi-fi that's the problem, and all too many people connect to any old hotspot -- do you really think that mcdonalds and your local cafe have your company's best interests at heart?
Or your best interests for that matter?
It won't be a problem after Huawei has finished converting the world to 5G, anyway, because wi-fi will be everywhere, a bloody damned sight faster than it is now, and (if they don't give in to US and UK pressure to allow backdoors into everything) a damned sight more secure and private.

The Chinese DGAF about that kind of cr@p. Seriously. If they want information, they don't waste billions of gig of server space and millions of hours trawling through it. It's not their way. They go precisely to where the information is, and primarily talk to people.
The google/US & UK government methodology of scraping every ounce of data about everyone and everything "just in case", is completely alien to them.
I've gotta admit that it doesn't make a sh1tload of sense to me, either, from the point of view of performing efficient activity.
The UK and US demanded a backdoor, but there isn't one, and Huawei doesn't want to build one in, because -- well it's f***ing obvious why a hardware manufacturer wouldn't want to build backdoors into their hardware -- whereas US hardware companies are quite willing to take a knee and do so; that's what all the bollocks is all about.
