Humans should never trust what a neural net says just because it’s based on math. I have nothing to add to "the neural net doesn’t specify what to do with all that meat, and perhaps it’s better this way. Nor, again mercifully, does it explain what it means by BACON HOLE."

The idiot who wrote the article said: Creating a functional recipe requires an intimate understanding of ingredients and their interactions with one another, of heat and spice and time. Today’s neural networks have none of that. *sigh!*
A finer demonstration of not having a f***ing clue about how AI works would be hard to find.
An AI has to be trained. The syllabus for that training may not be the easiest thing in the world to figure out, because one has to anticipate how badly things can go wrong if the focus of the "training material" does not result in the required results -- you don't need to be able to predict every possible screwed-up and useful outcome of the training, but you had pretty damned well be able to anticipate the big ones (which is why I get paid the big bucks).
So the writer's blaming Maths because he has idiotically trained his baking AI to produce poop is very much a case of the bad workman blaming his tools, when it's the analytic and creative failings of his own intelligence that are at fault.

The problem with AIs is that their output can look great, but still be garbage -- hidden, lurking garbage, just waiting in dark, sombre silence until you're presenting your work to the queen.

The good news is that the 3000 antennae will make your android phone cost more than an apple one, so you can shove that in their faces!
But, seriously, have they really tested it fully? It's as much of a software amendment as a hardware one, and that amount of redundancy could result in new problems.

I mean, it is an academic work, and they do more research/proof-of-concept work and leave the actual implementation to the engineers

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Google Maps has changed the way we navigate the world but its influence actually goes beyond just locating and navigating. Beware of hackers with a wagon-load of cellphones?
Also... is everything a hack these days?

So if you don't use google maps, there's an outside chance that you'll be stuck in a traffic jam.
But if you do use google maps, there's a 400% greater chance that you'll run into the car in front of you, and have to pay twice as much insurance next year.
There are reasons for the laws against using phones while driving, and few things are as attention-grabbing and distracting as google apps.

This, of course, is at variance with the the status quo of stuff that is highly hyped, but cr@p.

In future versions of Windows 10, Microsoft is making it so you can now completely uninstall the venerable Notepad, Paint, and WordPad programs from the operating system. Now how am I going to draw really bad diagrams?
I really can't think of when I last started them not by accident (trying to run notepad++ and/or paint.net)
