CHRIST! How many times does this have to happen before it sinks in that storing passwords unencrypted/hashed is a REALLY BAD IDEA?!?!
Take the whole lot of programmers who built that site and the PM out back and shoot them all in the head.
Apparently, having that happen dozens of times in the last couple years to other sites wasn't enough for them to say "Hey, maybe we should check our code for this!"

a) stop using kiddy languages/scripts
b) choose the appropriate language/environment/toolset for the task (but also see (c))
c) understand you cant design anything more than a toy on a paper napkin - there's documentation, requirements gathering, design/specs & testing for all else
d) dont need to be mollycoddled when system x doesnt talk to system y and how to fix it

I am older and I have never experienced ageism or fattism or any other ism except ismism.
I have experienced younger people being complete twats when it comes to what they think they know.
I like working with young people: makes me feel superior.

Just made those up. The whole thing is stupid: I have worked at places that would not hire younger people and others that, plainly, didn't like older people. It's the same in every industry except, of course, if you work at Walmart.

I think more important being "Tactical" as one age. After you have ten years around your belt, age start work against you in competing or just keeping your job as now you'd be far more expensive.
Instead of bitching about ageism and discrimation, best be "Tactical", plan ahead before it rains - whether it means saving up for early retirement, pay off your mortgage ahead of time, or start your own gig it's up to you.
Given volatility trusting your firm will continue hire your arse till you're 65 just plain bad retirement planning. HR talks about loyalty and bitch about job hopping- but they will ditch you when they see fits.

It is not the age, it's the fact that companies prefer people who would do more(long hours, overwork) for less that it is worth and that is mostly something the younger and less experienced will do. And I won't even start talking about quality, speed and standards.
I'm not saying this is a rule, there lot of people that are under thirties and already carry a lot of knowledge, but there are even more that don't.

Some ten years ago, I was asked in a job interview: "Now you are 35 years old. You'd be the oldest person in the team. Do you think you could cope with that?" Well, it was no problem for me, but for the company - I did not get that job.

I was on the opposite side of the coin. In my previous job a higher level position opened up on my team and I asked my boss what I can do to be considered for that position. His reply was that I was not "seasoned enough" for the position, i.e. too young. The guy they hired was not that great and often asked for my help. The best question he asked me was, "What is Citrix?"
I think it all depends on the company culture, more established older companies are hesitant to promote young people to high up positions. while newer companies like Google and Facebook prefer young people
