Code Contracts provide a language-agnostic way to express coding assumptions in .NET programs. I'm starting to think that some groups at Microsoft feel open source means, "We're cancelling the program, what should we do with it?"

At least they are offering the code from these "cancelled" programs to the community. Maybe someone will find use of it, expand on it, and make it more useful to the community.
With that said, I do feel the open source repositories such as Git, can be a grave yard for dead code.

Quote: Git, can be a grave yard for dead code Nope, there are tons of active development projects going on which also includes the MS .NET Framework.
Did you have a look into EF7

No offense, but I did say "can be".
I use Git. You are preaching to the choir.

IT job growth is expected to outpace the overall economy, and those with the right skills stand to benefit handsomely. So that's finding security problems, and making them?

Really cool. Interesting smooth video made from the real jumpy bits of life.
Also, I notice that it makes videos of life more like the smooth transitioning you see in video games (especially FPS) which was generally created so you could fake faster frame rates.
The real life jumpy version is annoying to watch and the hyperlapse version is very nice and watchable.
Interesting.

Quote: A planned outage of this length and magnitude is much more than just a black eye for Verizon," said Olds. "It shows that they don't understand the importance of their service to their customers, and, worse yet, are oblivious to the impact on them.
A Cell phone company that doesn't understand the importance of customer service. Shocking.

Assuming they take the full 48 hours and aren't down for another single second this year, that's only a 99.45% uptime rating. (two 9s)
We were dealing with five 9s levels of service years ago. - A rating that means you get just under 5 minutes and 16 seconds of downtime per year. As the article states, "Enterprise services typically measure downtime in seconds or less".
Good luck with that Verizon!

Maybe they are using some software developed by M$? I hope not.

It's a hardware problem. One of the banks of flash memory has just worn out and can no longer be read. The fix is just to remove that entire bank from service.
Unfortunately, even if you don't hit the maximum reprogramming limit and kill it that way, flash chips are only good for about a decade. Curiosity has just hit 4000 days of operation; top binned chips or not old age is probably going to catch up to more of them in the next few years, and losing the ability to store data overnight will be a major capability hit even if nothing else fails.
