I consider programming in Objective-C as a punishment. I asked my boss what I did wrong recently to deserve it.

If Microsoft is going to patch Windows 10, it should patch the same bugs in Windows 7, says Google's Project Zero. Because they always patch my copy of Android Cupcake

Asking the obvious question. What was the original W10 patch for? If it was done to address a security problem, then it absolutely should've been backported. IF the code in question was re-written for a different reason and they weren't aware that it also addressed a vulnerability then MS's decision not to backport it by default is a lot more reasonable.
Microsoft does afterall have a product that consists of W7/8 with all W10 patches merged into it. It's called Windows 10.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Too often, employees are put in a quandary when asked to do something that makes them uncomfortable, with no right or wrong answer. Here's how to respond in those situations. Like when they ask you to build the next system entirely in JavaScript?
Or should I have gone with VB there? SmallTalk? APL? Oh, I know: Forth.

I was under the impression that the whole rationale behind Windows 10 was that it was "the final" OS from Microsoft - one OS to rule them all, from mobiles to desktops. But Quote: now it appears that the new OS [Windows Core] is actually much more than an improved version of Windows 10 for mobile" Well, fine, if that's what Windows Core is, maybe Windows 10 can revert to being an OS dedicated to the desktop environment. (Or maybe I've just understood it all wrong anyway.)

No please, let's do a new one... and leave win 10 go to the recycle bin

Speechless. Well, if I had anything to say, it would be that Bitcoin is the up-and-coming new evil. Or, depending on your point of view, just a fad. But what a beast of a fad.

Yeah, really quite scary. Was kind of amazed that the owners let the reporter onto the site.

..the same amount as in the hunt for gold, but with fewer mountain-top removals and a lot less dangerous chemical. It is also a game with diminishing returns, meaning there'll be a point where mining (goes for gold aswell as bitcoin) is costing more than it returns.

That portion of the article was really shocking. The part of the article that said they were turning energy into money (bitcoin) is just crazy.

Doesn't it just mean that electric power is being undervalued, or that bitcoin is overvalued, or a combination of those? There should be some amount of profitability even at equilibrium since there is a barrier to entry, but it's pretty low.
Also it is clearly not a waste of power (it produces value) so I don't find it shocking or crazy. If people were turning power into bitcoin at a loss, that would be crazy.

This week, Apple released the new macOS High Sierra with the new file system called APFS (Apple File System). It wasn’t long before I encountered issues with this update. Not a simple issue, but a potential vulnerability.

No, the right way is to have acceptance testing that doesn't make these kind of mistakes in the first place.

I’ve been working on developer tooling for over 16 years, and I still love it when I find a new tip or trick that shaves seconds off a repetitive task. The set below are features that I see infrequently used but can save loads of time! Maybe people would use them more if they weren't hidden?

Most of these hidden gems are already is VS2015 such as adding ",h" to display a watched item in hex, etc.
- I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.
