Cancelled before they even designed it or gave it a name?
That's a record, even for them.

Older smartphone users tend to rely more on their phones' auto lock feature compared to younger users, a new UBC study has found. They also prefer using PINs over fingerprints to unlock their phones. I guess not having one also shows my age?
|
|
|
|
|
So the conclusions are that teenagers:
0. Keep their phones unlocked as long as possible
1. Are absorbed by their phones constantly
2. Never lock them (because it's too much hassle to unlock them)
3. Use the fastest and least effort-consuming method of unlocking their phones, because facebook is waiting!
Given that, I would suggest that a better headline for the article would be: "Teenagers are Idiots".

A new type of computer memory to solve the digital technology energy crisis has been invented and patented by scientists. I forgot to put a blurb here

Damn, I knew I should have patented that years ago!
"Computer memory based on quantum mechanics that consumes less power" is plenty enough detail to get a patent in the US!

JPL might have the technology to make Martian rovers, but it's seriously lacking in cybersecurity measures. Because network security isn't rocket science (duh!)

That unauthorized access happened in April of 2018. One would hope those issues have been addressed by now.

So someone installed a computer inside the system, which was then contacted by an external computer?
That's not poor cyber-security; it's poor judgement in the hiring process.

The battle for supremacy in the world of hand hygiene is a dirty one, and nothing demonstrates this better than the depressing sight of a paper towel dispenser with a EULA. Do you have to get to the end of the roll to click 'Accept'?

Nothing there that you couldn't drive a fleet of buses through, legally speaking.
So basically, the suckers at Tork have been duped into hiring a legal "consultant" for an undoubtedly ridiculous fee and, frankly, it serves them right!

New research from security vendor Positive Technologies examines vulnerabilities and threats in mobile applications, stating that the security level of iOS and Android apps is "roughly equivalent between the two platforms." They don't have a lower score than 'bad'?
|
|
|
|
|
So we're talking about apps made for different systems, right?
And who mare these apps made by, how where they schooled, and what did and do they learn from the environment (google searches, primarily)?
App security has sod all to do with the OS; it's all about the people who write the apps -- who all learned the same things and use the same sources of information, so of course the problems in android and ios systems are about the same.
A penny's worth of common sense would have saved them the expense of the study.

Researchers at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia have found evidence that our frequent use of mobile devices could be fundamentally altering our physiology. Specifically, they’re seeing horn-like bone spurs appear on younger adults (the most frequent users of those devices). Bull!
If I'm going to grow horns, at least make them a cool ones, not small ones off the back of my head. Unicorn or go home! (or maybe like Bighorn sheep?)

The Beer Prayer - Our lager, which art in barrels, hallowed be thy drink. Thy will be drunk, I will be drunk, at home as it is in the tavern. Give us this day our foamy head, and forgive us our spillage as we forgive those who spill against us. And lead us not to incarceration, but deliver us from hangovers. For thine is the beer, the bitter and the lager, for ever and ever. Barmen.
