Bloomberg article (includes video story - watch instead of read).
Nat Friedman[^], CEO GitHub, goes to arctic to "[deposit] 6,000 of the most popular open source projects."
They'll be safe for at least 1,000 years and possibly up to 2,000.
They are stored not on magnetic or optical media but,
"...data is stored on a reel of film coated with oxide powder. The information can still be read by a computer or if need be, by a human with a magnifying glass."

I'm sure my projects are included.

Impossible though, it's a hoax so it can't have real world consequences
Also, why do I really want to play Horizon: Zero Dawn?

The implication being that 1000 to 2000 years after an apocalypse any survivors will have re-invented the wheel with enough knowledge to create the technology that can read this stuff. And care. Riiight.

Exactly! I will be busy with more important stuff, like trying to make a sandwich.

I'm sorry, I don't seem to get it. It seems to be a glorified (and limited) POV "display"

Since the May 2019 Update, Windows 10 has been showing a warning when users connect to WIFI networks secured via WEP or TKIP warning users that these protocols are now easily hacked. Coffee shops will never be the same again

How do they think they can get away with that when so many hackers depend on it?

only fools are using WEP for wifi connections. It is extrem insecure so first choice for attacks.
WPA3 is coming with state of art encryption and massive improvements in performance and latency

It was big news in the Dutch newspapers, read an article about it last week. No more jokes about Belgians please
|
|
|
|
|
So these Belgians are sick of the Dutch always calling them dumb.
The Dutch government decides to do something about it to strengthen the relations between the two countries.
So the Dutch build a bridge in the middle of the desert.
The bridge does absolutely nothing and the whole world forgets how dumb Belgians are and laugh their ass off at the stupid Dutch.
After a few months the joke passed and the Belgians tell the Dutch it's been fun, but the bridge can be removed.
"I'm afraid that's not possible", says the Dutch prime minister.
"Why not?"
"A couple of Belgians are fishing on it."
