Hi,
I am doing an dialog app in win32. I have created a progress bar. It is working correctly when I run my app in win2000. But when I run the app in winXP it is not showing the dialog containing the progress bar. what is the problem.pls help.
Thanks.

This is a stretch but could that XP machine be missing, or have an old, Internet Explorer DLL? Something that might help is to use the DS_NOFAILCREATE when creating the dialog. If the dialog shows up with this style, you know that one or more controls on the dialog are in error (usually an ActiveX control).

Hello,
It would be so great if somebody can tell me how to test if a port on my PC is free or not.
My client PC, that I am building, has to inform the server on which port this last can send a RTP video streaming. And so, I want that my client PC find an unused port, to be sure that the transmission will succeed every time.
Many thanks for all kind of help and good evening,

I have some app that has a "run" button, that update some chart on every press.
But I have to manually press the button every time I want to update the chart.
I want to update the chart every 1 minuete.
Can I simulate the pressing of the "run" button from external application?
I have thought on somthing like sending an event to that app.
First, How can I know the event which sent upon the "run" button pressing, and then, can I sent that event to the app from my little external app ?
I really need help here... 10X !

You don't need an external app to do this. Just create a 1-minute timer that calls your "Run" button's handler. See the doc on SetTimer() .

I don't have the code of the application.
It's an commercial app, and I can't change it ...
I need a way to simulate the button press from outside that app.

This can be very easy or very hard depending on the type of application.
What you can do is use Spy++ to find the ID of the button in the third party app.
Then from your application you can call FindWindow to find the main window of the third party application.
If the button is a child of the main window all you have to do is post a BN_CLICKED message to that window.
If owner of the button is a child of the main window, then you need to do some digging to find the handle to the owner window.

I need something similar to DateTimeCtrl with DTS_UPDOWN option with up and down arrorw for increase/decrease the numbers within a set range.

You mean something like a textbox and a spincontrol?
No hurries, no worries.

Yeah something similar to those. Is there a function for it or do I actually have to write one from sratch?

write what ? the control or the handling of it ?
have a look at CSpinCtrl documentation, you can attach it to a buddy CEdit control.

Got it thanks.
It's CSpinButtonCtrl if anybody else is looking for it. Now I just need to figer out how to get +/- key to work with it
|
|
|
|
|
One more thing to add, check out CmnCtrl2.
Hmm another thing I have to figure out, automatically change the value if it's out of the range.
Why did they make one for DateTimeCtrl but not implemented in SpinButtonCtrl.
|
|
|
|
|
you have to add a textbox and immidiately after a spincontrol (tabindex one after the other) (group them)
then you can add the range and more properties to the spincontrol.
Check out msdn for more info, 'cause I don't know it by heart.
Good luck.

I need antialiased arc algorithm. Searching in the net provides all for Circle. But thatz different. I need exact arc algorithm.

Isn't an arc just part of a circle?

ofcourse, but the algorithm might be different. circle algoritms are not drawing the circle from 0 degree, 360 degree(may be someone there). they are drawing it by quadrant by quadrant. 4th one and 2nd one first, 1st one and 3rd one next... like that (But I am not sure...).

Hi,
i'm using CHtmlView to display HTML GUI in my app. But i was wondering why the buttons in the application dialogs ( inheriting CDialog ) are with XP style, and those in the html placed in the html view are old style ( flat )

I think you have to set your drawing to use XOR so it will invert the color bits where the handles are drawn. That gets them to show up even if there is intersection. You do the same drawing again with the XOR to 'undraw' the handles.
