Does anyone know how to find the version number of a phpBB? I cannot access the site directly, I need to look internally at the php and tpl files, or the SQL database I use.
Thanks!

I've got a weird fault that happens on IE6 but not IE5 when trying to open an href link (to code used to open Excel spreadsheets). Basically the code where the error is raised (after clicking on link) is as follows:-
<a href ='/test/testing/testFile.asp?fileID=51511&ud=28362&fileno=4'><B>Ready</B></a>
The error (Description: Unspecified Error , Err no: -2147467259) that comes up is actually referring to the line highlighted below. Do you know why this would be the case? displayHelp does exist as a div tag.
function hideTips() {
var oDisplay = document.all['displayHelp'];
oDisplay.className = 'helpHide';
}
hideTips() is called by the code below which is loaded on a onload event.
function setBodyEvents() {
var oBodyTag = document.all['IDBodyTag'];
oBodyTag.onmouseover = new Function("showTips()");
oBodyTag.onmouseout = new Function("hideTips()");
oBodyTag.onclick = new Function("showActualTips()");
}
Any ideas as to what could be triggering this error or the solution to it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

The sample code in C# is as follow:
static void Main(string[] args)
{
NetworkCredential cred = new NetworkCredential("usr","paswrd","dmain");
SoapHttpClientProtocol obj = Inquire.HttpClient;
obj.Credentials = cred;
Publish.Url = "http://localhost/uddi/Publish.asmx";
Publish.User = "adminstrator";
Publish.Password = "pswrd";
//Create tModel
SaveTModel stm = new SaveTModel();
stm.TModels.Add();
stm.TModels[0].Name = "Mytmodel";
stm.TModels[0].Descriptions.Add("en","Insert description here");
stm.TModels[0].OverviewDoc.OverviewURL = "Insert URL of WSDL here";
string sTModelKey = "";
//Send to UDDI
try
{
TModelDetail tmd = stm.Send();
sTModelKey = tmd.TModels[0].TModelKey;
}
catch (UddiException ue)
{
Console.WriteLine ( ue.Message );
Console.WriteLine("hello");

Hi Folks!
I know it might seem weird, and it might be impossible to do due to security related and other reasons, but I need to know if is there a way to do the following:
I have a web-application made in asp, which shows a listing of registers, in which one the user can download a file (it's basically a Electronic Document Managing - like app). The user can download the file, edit it locally, and then, upload it to the server replacing the old one. But my customers are complaining that this operation is very annoying due to the download-edit-save-then-upload cycle. They asked me to make it possible to them to download the file, edit it in a browser-embedded editor (like Word, etc.), and whenever they finished editing the file, just by saving the file by the editor, the file would be automatically uploaded (?!?)
Well, I know it's kinda silly, but the customers are complaining a lot about that, and I want to know if someone has did some kinda thing like that, and how.
Thanks in advance,
Julio

I have done something like that, bt not exactly, as the back-end data is in xml.
I have developed a web page, with text fields where the customer can edit/add information. The back end asp page would then replace the information in the xml.
It is pretty straight forward using xml/xsl.
In Brief, the customer sees the information on the browser, and he has an "edit" link per every item - clicking on this, would take him to the edit page where he can change the information and hit save. There is also a global "Add" which will allow him to add a new item.
The advantage of xml is that you are not tied to any editor, per se an using xsl you can transform it to any format.
If you are interested - let me know - and i'll try explain more.

Thanks Niansah, I appreciate your help.
Unfortunately, I am tied to editors. I agree XML/XSL would be a great choice, but, again unfortunately, I can't change the way my costumers edit their files because it'll be greatly intrusive, as they have hundreds of files uploaded already.
Nevertheless, thanks for your reply.
Cheers

What format are the files in that they want to edit?

I have 3 frames. Top, middle, bottom.
I process some info in the top frame, store it in a session var.
I then want the app to write the information out in the bottom frame. Int he bottom frame I read the session var and write it out but I can't see it.
In general I seem to have a more fundamental conceptual problem. How does a frame know when to activate? In the above example, when I finish gathering the info I want in the top frame I then want the lower frame to write it. But how do I tell the lower frame that I am finsihed preparing the data and now you should to write it?
Within the top frame I tried Response.Redirect(bottomframe) BUT that displayed the bottom frame where the top frame was. Obvisoulsy this is not what I wanted. I wanted the app to write the contents in the bottom frame.
Thanks in advance
Brian

You need to tell the bottom frame to reload its content, when you are done in the top frame. This can be done with JavaScript, but unfortunally - I can't remember the excat syntax just at this time.
I would think it would be something like "parent.[framename].location.href = [pagename];"

For some URLs (e.g.http://v3.espacenet.com/origdoc?DB=EPODOC&IDX=WO2005028634&F=0&QPN=WO2005028634), the content length for the HttpWebResponse I get with request.GetResponse in empty. The response.GetResponseStream() also empty.
Here is the code snippet:
HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(pageAddress);
HttpWebResponse resp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse();
StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(resp.GetResponseStream());
string pageData = sr.ReadToEnd();
The Content Type for the response is "text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" and the HttpStatusCode was OK.
What am I missing?

Hi Jason,
There's one more thing that you need to do is to add the value of the User-Agent to the header of the http request. The sample code looks something like this:
HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(pageAddress);
req.UserAgent = "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)";
HttpWebResponse resp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse(); There's also another work-around solution is to use the Web Browser control to navigate to the site, then you can read the output as soon as the document gets loaded completely.

Thanks. Setting UserAgent helped.

Hi there,
I have text coming from a database table field which I want to use for the body of my email massage. But the email must be in plain text format, and not HTML format. How do I get the text to display like as if it is like HTML format. What I means, the following text:
Mr Brendan Vogt wrote:Australian Chris du Toit, is one of the most affable athletes in the sport of triathlon.Chris took the World No. 1 position and destroyed arguably the greatest field ever assembled in triathlon, to win both the 1997 Triathlon World Championships and the 1997 ITU World Cup Series.
...should look like:
Mr Brendan Vogt wrote:
Australian Chris du Toit, is one of the most affable athletes in the sport of triathlon.
Chris took the World No. 1 position and destroyed arguably the greatest field ever assembled in triathlon, to win both the 1997 Triathlon World Championships and the 1997 ITU World Cup Series.
I hope you understand?? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers.

I assume there is a LF or CR/LF after say Vogt wrote: why not simply change them to <BR> when you display in your HTML page?

If you can replace the line feeds with a <br> tag, that is definatly the best way to go. If not, use the preformated text tag. <pre></pre> It may look a little funny (different font, etc), but at least the return characters will be shown.

I may be completely wrong, but from your message and the one you posted later, I assume that:
1. you are working in classic asp.
2. you are receiving some data from the database.
3. you are creating an e-mail message from the above data.
4. the requirement is that the above e-mail is in plain-text.
If all of the above are correct, use character 10 and 13 to add line field/carriage return. (or vbCrLf).
If not, I am sorry!
As a side note, if you are creating e-mail messages to be processed by SMTP server, make sure that mime type is set to text.
Good Luck!

Hi,
You are 99% correct! It's no data from the database. It's a string that I have hard coded myself. This is mainly for the people that can view emails only as text. The email component gives me an option of either having the body as HTML, or as plain text. I have chosen plain text, but I am not sure if the tags will work in plain text, don't think so. And I have tried the character 10 and 13, not working either. I will try again the weekend.
Thanks for coming back!!

Try this:
strBody = "Mr Brendan Vogt wrote:" & vbCrLf & "Australian Chris du Toit, is one of the most affable athletes in the sport of triathlon." & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & "Chris took the World No. 1 position and destroyed arguably the greatest field ever assembled in triathlon, to win both the 1997 Triathlon World Championships and the 1997 ITU World Cup Series."

Hi Brendan,
If you are using .net you can replace all your crlf's with
Environment.NewLine
or you can use
\r\n
as well

Hi there,
I'm using classic ASP!!
I have an input textfield which does not require value in my SQL server database. So it is defined as to allow null values.
So, if the textfield is empty, I do the following check to make it null when adding it to the database. I don't like inserting empty strings:
Dim strDialCode
If Trim(Request.Form("txtDialCode")) = "" Then
strDialCode = Null
Else
strDialCode = Request.Form("txtDialCode")
End If
In my CreateParameter I have the following, which I am not sure if I am doing it correctly:
objCmd.Parameters.Append objCmd.CreateParameter("@ContactDialCode", adWChar, adParamInput, Len(strDialCode), strDialCode)
Basically what should happen is it must be able to accept values, and null values.
In my stored procedure (just a part is displayed) it is defined as follwoing:
CREATE Procedure sp_InsertContact
(
@ContactID nvarchar(16),
@ContactFName nvarchar(50),
@ContactLName nvarchar(50),
@ContactDialCode nvarchar(10),
@ContactTelephone nvarchar(20)
)
INSERT INTO tblContact
(
ContactID_PK,
TitleID_FK,
ContactFName,
ContactLName,
ContactDialCode,
ContactTelephone
)
VALUES
(
@ContactID,
@TitleID,
@ContactFName,
@ContactLName,
@ContactDialCode,
@ContactTelephone
)
GO
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers.
Brendan

I am afraid I do not understand the question, but your parameters in stored procedure - shouldn't you be using something like:
@middlename NVARCHAR(255) = NULL
|
|
|
|
|
What I am trying to say is... If the textbox is empty, a null should be written to the database field. So, if I pass the null contained variable to the CreateParameter method, then I get errors. I want to test for nulls before I go to the database.
|
|
|
|
|
ok....
try isNull or isEmpty ...one of them should work! gosh, it's been a while since I used vb!
