Currently I have a web application that runs in secure socket. The Web app access Web services also by calling the secure socket.
Example:
Web App runs here
https://secure.webapp.com/app/default.aspx
access database thru Web service call
https://secure.webapp.com/appWS/getmydata.asmx
Now.
If I create a windows application that needs to get data from the same webservices, can my windows application make the same web services call
https://secure.webapp.com/appWS/getmydata.asmx
with the data being secure coming back to the windows application on my client?
I do not know enough about SSL to know. My concern is that taking the secure web page out of the picture is the data still secure coming out of the web service?
Thanks

Of course! How do you expect a Cell as a Hyperlink Text. That is a presentation tag right.
If you want the entire cell to be clicable, then I think you can try and use a javaScript function.

Balu,
Which technology are you using? Assuming ASP.NET, you may StreamRead the file and the write into the Response Stream, allowing suitable buffers. You may need to have impersonation to have ASP.NET access the network resources.

vasudevan,
Thanks for your response and i appreciate it. The technology i am using is JSP->Struts->Bean. The environment is Unix. There is a seperate server for files from appserver. This is a report where the jsp is loaded with recordset results and allows user to download the same in excel form. The files that user downloads has to be stored in the fileserver aswell. There is one Link created on the appserver to a file server. The link is outside the web folders on App server. Is it possible to allow user downloads when the file resides outside web folder (link especially).
Thanks and hope to get some help from you.
Regards,
Balu

A user can not download a file outside the web folder, unless the user has direct access to the file server.
Make a proxy page, that gets the file from the file server, and sends it as response to the user.
Make sure that the page can only be used to fetch the files that the user should have acess to, otherwise you will open up a huge security hole...

Is there any web server that raises server side events. For Example, I want to show account balance to my customers via emails at the start of month based on the records stored at server side Database.
Is there any event which raises at the first of every month?

Shoaib,
There would'nt anything from the server as such other than the possibility of the following:
(*)Your ability of accessing the server console and having privileges to create and run scheduled tasks.
(*)Sql also would enable you to do this.
Is this what you are looking for?

In Classic ASP, how do two applications make use of the same Virtual
Directory?
Specifically, if a file in the Virtual Directory referenced the ASP
Application Object, how would the Server know which Application Object
to return?
Or is it the case that a Virtual Directory can only belong to one ASP application at a time?
I guess what I am asking is this -- if two distinct ASP Applications both want to use the same physical directory, would they each need a distinctly incarnated Virtual Directory to do it?

Hi... I have never used javascript before, so i think it's a bit difficult for me. But i promissed to help a friend who has created a web shop in java. With some kind of software, that has created his code. So the source is a mess.
My problem is when you have to type your customer adress, i want to open it in a new window, not in the iframe (That how it works know, i think..!)
I want customerdtl.html to open in it's own window
orderContentFrame.location="../customerdtl.html";
Hope someone can help af javascript newbie

Use the window.open method:
widow.open('../customerdtl.html', '_blank');
You can also use a thirt parameter, specifying the size of the window that is opened, and some other stuff.
Be aware that the form might rely on being opened in the iframe. You might have to change some of the code there also to make it work.

This method is used to open a new browser window
window.open('../customerdtl.html','name','height=200,width=150')
name is a string containing the name of the new window.

Hi,
I have a small HTML with a button and a handler object which is likely to catch the button's onclick event. When I try to click the button it says "this.button.id is null or not an object". If I do onclick="objHelper.buttonClick" in the "input type=button" tag instead it works fine. What is the right solution?
Here is my code:
<title>
function helper()
{
var button;
this.setButton = function(tobjButton)
{
this.button = tobjButton;
this.button.onclick = this.buttonClick;
};
this.buttonClick = function()
{
alert(this.button.id);
};
}
var objHelper = new helper();
function init()
{
objHelper.setButton(document.all("btnButton"));
}
Thanks:
(K)
