CP can also bring a category called 'Unanswered Questions', which can enlist all the questions which do not have any reply threads.
But a lot of questions, I'm sure, get (a) out of date, the programmer is no longer working on the project, or (b) already answered, getting no answer here perhaps the programmer went elsewhere, to a book or colleagues for example, and got his answer, which is why he didn't repost.
This, along with the other objections, should be considered. Maybe the programmer with the unanswered questions could just repost if he wants his question answered, of course imploring people to consider it this time and/or asking what's wrong with the question if it's not understandable.

If the original poster really wanted an answer to their question, they'd come back in 2-3 days and post it again, hopefully at a different time to catch a new audience.

Hi,
While posting a hyperlink in Clipboard, CP automatically does the job of pasting it as an HTML Link and also a new Window text along with it. Cool.
But if I would like to have a particular text to be hyperlinked, just in Outlook (Ctrl +K) in Compose Window, it would be very useful too.

And Prakash,
Can you read through the suggestion again bit slowly and patiently though? It does not complain a discrepancy or error with the Link or Link (^). It would be another feature extension.
The current setup would place the same text as href value and linked text. Two times.
If you had used Microsoft Outlook (Express) or a similar HTML Editor component based on IE (MSHTML), you should have come across the CTRL+K hyperlink. And that is what is being suggested to.
Hope this clarifies your doubt.

I assume you are refering to these steps in outlook express or what ever.
1. Select a text
2. Press Ctrl-k
3. Type in the hyperlink
4. Done.
In case of CP.
1. You type in the hyperlink.
2. Select the hyperlink.
3. Click [link] or link[^]
4. A piece of text is hilighted, type over or keep as it is.
Now where is the difficult part or the extention part?

Hi CP Support Team,
Very often this week, I had been encountering this message.
----------------------------
Oops!
Hear that crunching sound? Something just broke.
Why did this happen?
Because either we screwed up in a way that wasn't immediately obvious until now, or because the ASP engine running this site has just rolled over and died, or because the site is simply having a bad hair day.
Options
Try and do whatever you did again. Try again.
Open the CodeProject home page, and then look for links to the information you want. Sure, the information you need is probably on this page, but you never know your luck in a big city.
Pray, curse, or sacrifice burnt offerings, then see 1.
The Error
The Page: : /info/error500.asp
The Time: : Saturday, October 01, 2005, 8:25:11 AM
The Server: : Web7
The Error No. : 0. That's right. The server thinks there was an error but now can't remember it. Perfect.
---------------------------------------
As a webuser it is the same AirTel Broadband Connection and IE 6.0 browser. Any webserver changes, sessionstate which seems to create this server errors in CP.

This is the ASP engine on our servers dying due to load. We're currently working to upgrade to IIS6 on 2003 but we have code that works fine on 2000, but dies on 2003. We're working as hard as we can to get past this.

Chris,
Is there anyway to add the do not post programming questions to just above the Submit / Preview buttons?
i.e.
[] Notify Me by e-mail if someone answers this message<br />
<br />
"Please do NOT post programming questions or ads to this forum."<br />
"For programming help please try the Forums."<br />
<br />
[Submit] [Preview]
I don't know if it would help or not but worth a shot?

Hello!
One improvement to the site would be that if I login on a article page I will return on the same page after login! Now I wind up at the frontpage and have to find the article again.
|
|
|
|
|
meanwhile, press back key twice and press F5 or refresh.
now you are logged in and at the article that you were reading.

It would be great if CP start a exclusive article section which discuss upcomming computing technologies like AI and Neural Networks.

After changing the timestamp showing when the message was inserted by putting the ellapsed time since now, shouldn't be interesting to do the same with the message that appears at the top of every forum?

I know there is already a size difference between <H2> and <H3> but I would suggest adding italic to the <H3> tag as well. This would help to further differentiate it from the <H2> tag.

Apologies in advance if this isn't the correct forum to post this.
I attempted to create an account yesterday (Sept 22nd) which appears to be in some state of limbo. I never recieved an confirmation e-mail saying the account was created, yet any attempts to create a newer account using the same username/e-mail generates the "...the name/e-mail is already being used by someone else" error. I'm unable to login using the password I provided, and I never recieve any e-mails from the "I forgot my password" page.
I created another account today so I could post this message. Initially I provided a name, But when I went back to edit my account, the "Name" field was blank. I didn't think anything of it until I tried to post. When I tried to submit a post, the site would come back with an error saying my login name (blank) and the name field on the "New Message" page ("mzuber") had to match. So, I removed the name I provided and resubmitted. The site then complains that blank values are not accepted!
Aaarrrrrggh!
So, in the end I resorted to using an account from www.bugmenot.com in order to post. Now that I have a "voice", is there an administrator I can e-mail to delete those two accounts?
Thanks in advance,
-Me

Hi,
During the period of registration, was your Inbox free to recieve messages? May be any spamfilter is blocking the messages.
While posting and recieving in this thread, are you getting replies from forums@codeproject.com. If not, I think you need to check out whether your mailserver is blocking mails from CP.

A "Looking for ..." forum. For those who are looking for a software component or the like. It kind of sits somewhere in between programming question and general information.
