why didn't you use server controls instead of html controls?

the module is already developed using html controls.Now I have to continue with that.No chance of modifying it.So help me if possible.

So you mean You are not supposed to make the html control RunAt=server.
can you try something like this

No I have to use the same design and continue wiht the work.already lot of javascript is written for that. So I have to use it.That is my task.But the inline code is working for radio buttons and why not for list boxes?Kindly help me out.

Sure everything automated is good. However, I want to be able to do create, edit, delete, view data from database with my own list of controls (eg: textboxes, dropdownlist, listboxes, etc), rather than to use the default GridView, DetailsView, and FormView controls.
Then I found a serious problem. IF my database is empty (no records), I cannot create a new record using the GridView, DetailsView, or even the FormView. Because these controls need you to have some sort of data / record in it to be displayed, then only will the CommandField such as New / Edit / Delete LinkButton be displayed. Without 'New' being displayed, I cant click to go on creating a new record.
How do I go about it?
There are a lot of people who ended up doing things wrongly, even if they had the best of intentions at the beginning. Then again, there is no guarantee the words they said were conveyed as they originally were intended to be. That's because those on the receiving end only hear what they want to hear.

Hi there,
These control all have the EmptyDataTemplate[^] property which you can use to define your own template when data is empty. So in this template, you can place a New/Add button so that the user can click to add a new record.

I need to serialize some objects of a certain class all in one file..so I loop on every object and call a function called WriteToFile()

now the problem is that everytime I call the function..a new object is replaced by another object written in the file..how can I open the file and append to it new objects??

Hi there,
The File.OpenWrite method uses the FileMode.OpenOrCreate to open the specified file, and it does not seek to the end of the file, so in this case you should use the File.Open method instead with the FileMode.Append as the method parameter.

You can use table for the first header.
For eg.
In the 1st row of the table type 1st header
In the next row place the datagrid
Hope this will solve your problem.

No. You have to use window.open to open a new window to be able to change the settings of the window.

not sure if you can create an window.onload = function() { // hide toolbars etc here } to remove what you want from the window, but it will initially be shown if this is to work, i've never tried it.

Suppose the question isn't how, but WHY do you want to do this...
I find that in general, if you're asking for something as whacky as this, then you probably shouldn't do it - one of the main points of doing web dev is that almost EVERYBODY knows how to drive a webbrowser - it performs in a familiar way and uses well known paradigms....if you go doing something whacky like removing toolbars, then users loose this familiarity...
Try to look for another site that does this - and if you can't find one, ask yourself WHY
