handle WM_CHAR instead. when you get a character that shoulld be allowed in the editbox, then pass it to the base class handler. otherwise, simply don't redirect the call.

Another alternative is a masked (i.e., formatted) edit control.

After you place your edit boxes on the dialog, assign them to variables of the type that you want (e.g. int or UINT for age) and then you can specify a range that the data must fit into. This will add DDV_ calls into your DoDataExchange function that will handle everything you need for you (and even pop up a message box if the user enters data outside the range you specified).

Can some explain how, WITH A WORKING EXAMPLE, to display a "Loading" or "Saving" that has no buttons on it, (only a "progress bar") that can be displays ON CALL and timed to destroy itself without user intervention when the loading/saving has been accomplished. I need this for a project I'm developing. EXAMPLES please!
I'm programming using MFC code so I need examples using MFC.

You can use 'DoModal()' function to show the dialog box and then start a timer using SetTimer() then on 'OnTimer()' event call 'EndDialog(IDOK or IDCANCEL)' to close the dialog.

I think he needs to hide Open & Cancel in Open/Save File dialog

Do you need to customize file dialog?
ou need to derived a class from CFileDialog and insert this line ShowWindow(GetDlgItem(GetParent(hDlg),IDOK),0); but see this[^] article of course its insert a preview but its helpful for you

Depending on what your requirements are, there are a couple ways you can go. If the rest of your application can be disabled while the load/save completes, you can create a dialog, remove the OK/Cancel buttons and place a progress bar on it (along with whatever else you want). When you are loading/saving, create this dialog using DoModal and have it spawn a worker thread to do the loading/saving and pass back progress information as it goes.

Hi,
I want to get the currently selected time zone name( that exact string as in the time zone combo box of standard Date and Time dialog).
Is there any method for it? (GetTimeZoneInformation()will not meet my requirement.)
Plz help.
Thanx in advance.

After calling GetTimeZoneInformation(&tzi) , you have to look at the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones\tzi.DaylightName key. Its Display value is the one you are searching for.

Hi all,
I have a module that digitally signs, crypts, decrypts and verifies messages using Microsoft's CryptoAPI. Normally, when I install a certificate, I have to provide the password only once, and Microsoft stores this password, so that for each use of the certificate (when signing or decrypting) I do not have to enter the apssword again (the only thing you can then configure is the OS asking if it is OK to use the certificate). This is a necessary behaviour, since we use this module in an unattended system.
We are now facing the chalenge that we have to use hard-token certificates (since our customer sends invoices to Germany and they demand this) However, I cannot install this token with a one-time password, so that the system now asks every time again for this password. Since there is no user, the system halts at that point.
I can not find a way to pass the password in the call to either CryptSignMessage or any of its related functions. If I could do that, then I could store the password myself and pass it automatically.
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks in advance
William

no whiteSky. IDD_MYDIALOG is not a resource, it is only a macro declared as a #define in the resource.h header of your project. but you could have created it by yourself...
anyway, Create() is the method to use to create a dialog, such as any controls on it also...
the point is, ,when creating the controls, to indicate their parent as being the dialog box.

With no resource template, you can create a dialog based on a DLGTEMPLATE structure by calling either CreateDialogIndirect (modeless dialog) or DialogBoxIndirect (modal dialog).
