IMHO, the projects you have worked on carry more weight than knowing some generic terms. When talking among fellow developers, knowing the jargon is helpful. However, talking the jargon with your customer is poison. If you focus on doing, the terminology will come naturally.

I developed an Add-in for Outlook 2003 with Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite.
My solution was created via:
Other Project Types -> Extensibility -> Shared Add-in
And I selected support for Microsoft Outlook.
Question 1:
I uncheched all the "Exclude" option of the assemblies in the Setup Project and builded it successfully.
The Add-in installed and ran well in another computer which had also VS 2005 Team Suite on it. However, on a third computer, which only had .NET Framework 2.0 but not VS 2005, the Add-in installed normally but did not load when Outlook started. What's the problem?
Question 2:
My CommandBarButton runs only a few times.
I added a CommandBarPopup to the Main Menu and then added a MsoControlType.msoControlButton to the popup. In the ClickEventHandler of the button, a Windows Form object is created and shown.
The problem is, each time I start Outlook, the button is available for only a few times, usually 2-3 times, sometimes only once. Afterwards it becomes unavailable at all. It gives no response when I click it.
Some of the codes are as follows:
//Acquire the "Menu Bar" and create a new control on it
menuBar = ((Outlook.Application)applicationObject).ActiveExplorer().CommandBars["Menu Bar"];
commandBarControl_CM = menuBar.Controls.Add(MsoControlType.msoControlPopup, 1, "", 6, true);
commandBarControl_CM.Visible = true;
commandBarControl_CM.Caption = "Sychronization";
//Add buttons to the newly created control
CommandBarPopup commandBarPopup_CM = (CommandBarPopup)commandBarControl_CM;
CommandBarControl commandBarControl_SI = commandBarPopup_CM.CommandBar.Controls.Add(
MsoControlType.msoControlButton, 1, "", 1, true);
commandBarControl_SI.Visible = true;
commandBarControl_SI.Caption = "Calendar Sychronization";
//Add button event handlers
CommandBarButton button_showinfo = (CommandBarButton)commandBarControl_SI;
button_showinfo.Click += new _CommandBarButtonEvents_ClickEventHandler(button_showinfo_Click);
private void button_showinfo_Click(CommandBarButton Ctrl, ref Boolean CancelDefault)
{
System.Windows.Forms.Form form_CalMng = new Form_CalMng();
form_CalMng.Show();
}

Question 2 has been solved. The button object has to be declared at class level.
But help me with Question 1, please!

I begin to believe that it has something to do with the developing environment. I tried the Add-in on two computers without VS2005 and got the same result, which is that the Add-in did not load. However, I tried it on another two computers WITH VS2005 on them and the Add-in loaded successfully.
Any hint?

What did you actually Exclude? If they were Excluded by defaulot, there must be a valid reason, try un-excluding the files for the setup.

I said "I UNchecked all the Exclude option of......", that is to say, I un-excluded them......

I meant, let the excluded files remain excluded. Don't include them. Some files have to be excluded.

I have a Legacy ASP app that uses the Telnet port to connect to user's email accounts. When I load the .NET Framework 2.0 (.NET 1.1 is already on the server) the app is no longer able to use the Telnet port. Any suggestions?

I'm writing an application that can load any .NET assembly and work with it through reflection. I want to load all assemblies in a new appdomain, not default appadomain. My code looks like this:
AppDomainSetup^ ads = gcnew AppDomainSetup();
ads->ApplicationBase = appdir;
AppDomain^ newAd = AppDomain::CreateDomain("MyAppDomain",AppDomain::CurrentDomain->Evidence, ads);
Assembly^ a = newAd->Load(gcnew System::String(assemblyName));
assemblyName is the incoming assembly name from the user. The problem here is, the assembly gets loaded to MyAppDomain and DeafaultAppdomain. This is because I've a reference to the assembly created in new appdoamin in my current app domain. I need a reference because I need to work with it later on when user wants to invoke methods or call properties.
This is sort of writing an application for plug-in components.
I want to be able to Unload MyAppdomain so that the assembly gets unloaded. It doesn't work because the assembly is loaded to default appdomain also.
How do I prohibit the assembly getting loaded to defaultappadomain?
Thanks a lot

Hello,
I'm getting the error 'System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute' does not contain a definition for 'Form' in the generated client code for a web service. It seems like an issue with CF 1.0, because it works under .net framework. The web service is JAXWS 2.0 and I'm generating the client part with VS 2003. I need to use VS 2003 so I'm limited to CF 1.0. I couldn't find any info how to solve the problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated !
Thanks

Hi, I'm new to .Net Compact Framework.
I am using version 2.
My PocketPC does not have this version of .Net Compact Framework.
How should I install the runtime files on the PocketPC 2002?
(any URL, or methods of making stand-alone setup.)

Manaxter wrote: PS. Do I need to add it (l_IndexLabel) to a collection? Even if its part of the Slide class?
You're on the right track: this.Controls.Add(l_IndexLabel);
You only have to add it once, so the Slide constructor is probably the best place to add it.

As previously replyed all you need to do is add the control,
...but....
why do you need to add an extra label ?
Isn't it simpler and faster to override the OnPaint event and draw a border and some text ?

This is an Exception in some of the application you were currently using( May be in some web application). This exception will come if that perticular application is not properly handled
If that application is handled properly( Means at least code is written in Try- catch block), Message box will open, there all that error message will be dipalyed, If not as you mentioned same thing will appear.

Hi
Can any one help me to understand what may cause this error
"System.InvalidCastException:
Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to class type 'mshtml.HTMLAnchorElementClass'.
COM components that enter the CLR and do not support IProvideClassInfo or that do not have any interop assembly registered will be wrapped in the __ComObject type.
Instances of this type cannot be cast to any other class;
however they can be cast to interfaces as long as the underlying COM component supports QueryInterface calls for the IID of the interface.
at UserControls.HTMLView.ExtractControls.ExtractInfoFromToolStrip(HtmlElement element, ToolStrip toolStrip)"
I am new to .NET and C programming in general,I would appreciate if some one could explain why this error appears give me some advice or pointers on what to look for to resolve it
Many thanks

Hi all,
I have a data grid to list rows and am printing from IE using javascript window.print(). Its working very fine. But I like to print header in each page of my print. Is it possible?
Also I am using the following script to set up the page break after printing 15 items in a page. It is working all right. Is there any other way to insert page break after certain page margin?
private void dgResults_ItemCreated(object sender, System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGridItemEventArgs e)
{
if(e.Item.ItemType == ListItemType.Item || e.Item.ItemType == ListItemType.AlternatingItem)
{
count++;
if(count > 15)
{
e.Item.Style.Add("page-break-after","always");
count = 0;
}
}
}
Is there any similar way to add header in each page? Or is it possible to add ListItemType.Header in the middle?
Thanks and Regards
Renu

I haven't tried this myself so I am using the general message type. Anyway, in CSS2 there is an At-Rule called &media. &media screen { .... } applies to the browser's display, and &media print { ... } applies to printed out. If you create a "header row" first initially, after each of the page breaks and have this "header row" hidden to the browser:
<br />
&media screen { .hidden {display: none;} }<br />
You have to apply this hidden class attribute to the header "row" of the DataGrid. You may have to apply this class style to the children controls too. Also, I don't guarantee this will work.
