Sounds like you did something in code that requires admin.

No I don't think so. If I run the App.exe from the user account (doubleclick on App.exe in the program folder) there is no problem. Only if I try to run the App from the installed icon, it tries to reinstall the App from a unfound App.msi

Hi, I am new to .net and my company wants me to develop a plugin in .net (framework 2.0) for MS Office 2003 or higher. Does any body knows how to create a plugin and how to deploy into MS Office using installer so that when ever MS Office (word, excel or ppt) opens then it will added automatically.
Thanks

I think to implement this application you have a basic knowledge of OLE and COM component.

Thanks,
Does it mean that .net is not providing this?

There is also a version of Visual Studio (I think Professional/Team Developer) that supplies a specific type of project for all the Microsoft Office products (developing for Outlook/Word/Excel/etc...)
it depends on the version of your Visual Studio 2005..

I have developed an application (vb.net 2005) and using IP Multicasting (udp, group addr 224.0.1.1, local port 7777, rec port 7777) for the method of communication between the app that is running on numerous pc's. For testing purposes, I am using 4 pc's. These pc's are all behind a Linksys wireless B broadband router. All pc's are running XP sp2 and do not have the firewall enabled. My problem is that 2 of these pc's can not receive messages. These 2 pc's also have Cisco's VPN client installed, but not running. Here is what I have...
Dell GX 150 - Can send and receive multicast messages, no problems.
No vpn client installed, VS2005 is not installed.
Dell E310 - Can send and receive multicast messages, no problems.
No vpn client installed, VS2005 is not installed.
Dell 4550 - Can only send messages.
VPN installed but not running, VS2005 installed.
Dell Latitude (wireless) - Can only send messages.
VPN installed but not running, VS2005 installed.
Just hoping somebody has an answer. The pattern that I see here is the VPN client. I've been researching these issues for weeks now and have not come up with a working solution.
This application will be running at a site where several users need to have VPN running. I have found that when VPN is running, multicast does not work at all, can't even join the group. Is there any solution for this issue?
Thanks in advance,
Dick Bellnier

I think that I must to give a sertificate. But how can I do it in WebClient?
Thank you for answer.

You can also check out http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/filedownloader.asp[^].
You almost have things setup correctly, but the CredentailCache.DefaultCredentials will supply the request object with the default system credentials, not the username and password required by the web site.
In order to do that, you will need to do something like this:
Uri uri = new Uri(url);
CredentialCache credCache = new CredentialCache();
NetworkCredential userCred = new NetworkCredential(username, password, domain);
credCache.Add(uri, "Basic", userCred); The "NTLM" in the call is a string that specifies the authentication type. The valid choices are "NTLM", "Digest", and "Basic". You will need to use the type that is appropriate for your specific case.
Also, make sure that you don't need a proxy to be specified.

Hello,
I have a MDI-Application (.net v2.0.50727). Sometimes when I maximize a MDI-Child the Application goes into an endless loop or something like that.
First you can see a the Child-Window integrate into the Menubar, than it shrinks again. This is repeated several times, quite rapidly. Then the UI is frozen and is not redrawn.
When I pause the Debugger and show external code I get something like shown on the buttom. The only code from me, in the stacktrace is the Application.Run(Form). I do not
listen to any resize,... events (only MDIChild_Activated,MDIChild_FormClosing).
Has anyone ANY IDEA what I can do, any workaround,...??
If someone needs some more Data, I will gladly provide them.

Quick Q... does anybody have any experience of the various tools for creating PDF documents out there? I need to implement some Pdf functionality pretty sharpish in my web app, in .NET, using VB. I have about two hours to find and pick a decent tool...

I suspect the lounge was a better place to ask this. Did you find something ? There are free libraries on sourceforge, and lots of commercial ones.

Cheers Christian, yep, after trying a few free components and some professional demos, we went for AbcPdf.NET.
Sorry if I posted in the wrong place. Thought the Lounge was for philosophical discussion and the like.

Try aspEasyPDF. You can download it from www.mitdata.net.
It is a wonderful tool to generate PDF on fly.

I've created a DLL using Visual Studio 2003 for an IIS service (a .NET remoting application) and it works fine. But, when I migrate to Visual Studio 2005 it doesn't work anymore. (the source code, etc rests the same) . Does anyone encountered this problem? I'll be really greatful if someone sends me some ideas to resolve this problem.
Thanks a lot in advance!
P.S: I can send the source code if you need it.

the biggest versioning problem I had when doing this was that it was very easy to get shared components on the server and client out of sync. As i remember this used to show up as an incompatible binary formatter error (this is because it tries to deserialize the error message returning from the server).
Do you have an error message available.

Hello!
I have a panel with 2 buttons and it has to be possible for user, resize the buttons.
Do you have some tipps for me?
|
|

You just need to set the size of the button in code, based on whatever input you choose.

To find "whatever input choosed by user" was my problem..
Now I have a "dirty-solution" for this problem, do you know a better (simpler) way?

I came a across a tutorial, here on codeproject, explaining how to use/create a component which is like the one in visual studio. It allows the resize of a component at runtime (with little squares around the control).
Sorry I couldn't find that article but it's definitely somewhere around here :/.

Hi,
this is murty, i am using .net2003, AJAX. I have used AJAX for the Database related operations. i am getting data from the database, i am displaying this through Response.write(text), i got optput, but every time page load code is also executing even i have written IsPostBack=false. meanwhile i got output(responseText) with some html code, how to subtract this from the required output.

I have seen ppl using Seriable attribute for Classes. Can anyone explain me wat does Serializable mean? and why is it used?

It means that the class can be serialized. Which means that it can be stored in a file (or db or wherever) and then restored from there later on (it's how sessions work for example).
