Having to scroll/page down through 17 screens of article to reach the messageboard at the bottom of a big article is very annoying.

I voted your suggestion a 5. But, you could always press the [End] key - works in FF and IE.

and then I have to page up from the bottom. It's an improvment, but still not ideal behavior.

Sounds like a good idea to me.
BTW - if you ever need to provide such a link, tacking <a href="http://www.codeproject.com/cs/miscctrl/csharpgridcontrol.asp?forumid=14109#ForumTable" rel="nofollow">#ForumTable</a> onto the end of the URL should do it...

I would have thought the "Discuss" link at the top of the article (just to the left of the rating bar) does a pretty good job already.

Weird that I've never seen that till now

Ok, i know i've complained about it before, but that little row of links is awfully hard to find. I spend at least a few seconds searching for it every time i bookmark an article.

I totally agree. I'm open for suggestions...

I was kinda hoping for a "Make the fonts bigger" or "how about placing it just *here*" or "make the links follow the mouse around the screen" kinda thing.
But OK.
*blink*
I'm not sure it's helping.

What? You do not like the idea of having the link flashing? It's sure to draw the attention of people who are too blind to see it now.

I don't think the problem is that the font is too small (though it doesn't help), or that the position is bad (although it is). For me at least, it's that i start looking for it at the top of the page, and there are thirty-some links before i get to it. I've actually used the Firefox link-search to jump to it before, but even then the My Bookmarks link gets hit before the Bookmark link.
And yeah, i know i already complained about the clutter after the redesign kicked in, and if i wasn't using such a small screen it wouldn't be a problem for me. But still, i do use a small screen, and even if i bought a bigger one, i wouldn't bring it in the kitchen with me, and so i'd still be stuck right now looking at the first page of an article, with a scant 3rd of my browser's client area showing actual article.
But say... that floating bar thing sounds kinda cool.

Hi,
I was just thinking if a calendar of some sort would be useful in here. We get a lot of posts in the Lounge about stuff that Microsoft/Google/AcmeCorp/etc. just released, and it is of course always very easy to miss such announcements (yes, even when they are reposted ). So, would it be useful to create a calendar, so that users could add events to it? Then I'm talking about events that might be useful for the community, not "My mom's birthday" etc. It should probably also be possible to add events in advance (i.e. "FireFox 3.0 is sceduled for release in xx.xx.2007" - you get the picture...). Rating of events would also be helpful, so events with the highest ratings would appear first in the list of each day. Obviously this could work for events other than product releases, as I said it should be a place for events which would benefit the community.
Does this make any sense?
Regards,
Daníel

I think it's a good idea, but it probably needs some work so it's not abused.

Yes, probably just similar to the Lounge itself or even more work. A moderator (or many of them...) would probably be a good idea, or perhaps it would only be possible to suggest links/events, but a moderator would have to decide if the event would fit. Anyway, I guess smarter people than me will think of something brilliant

This is a great idea, Do you also want to have Real world events that are attached to a geographic location, such as the VS 2005 go live conferance. Ect?

Yes, definitely. A really cool implementation would provide a link to the location in GoogleMaps
