You seem to be confused. You will still needs lots of code regardless of whether you use ADO, or ODBC.

You still seems confused, since your question doesn't make sense.
SQL is, to my knowledge, a language for dealing with database queries.
A SQL database is a database that supports the SQL language.
A database usually resides in some kind of (remote) server machine.
In order to communicate with a database (SQL or not), your program has to "talk" to the server that hosts the database. And of course, the database itself.
Two ways to communicate with a database is ODBC and ADO. There are other ways as well.

See benjymous response, earlier in this thread.
Or just Google for it.
Or try MSDN.
There are heaps of samples out there, just pick one.
Good luck.

A easy way is that you can use of DlgDirList

hmm yes sir but i have to list the files similar to windows explorer ie with icons

But not the correct way. The requirement was to list "all the files and folders in c: drive." DlgDirList() does nothing more than populate a listbox with the names of the subdirectories and files in a specified directory.

you can use FindFirst() and FindNext() functions. But using the CFileFind class would be an easier option.

I am hiding my window when its close button in clicked and i am keeping it in the system tray.
When some condition is true the window has to be shown on the window.
For this i wrote
AfxGetMainWnd()->ShowWindow(SW_SHOW)
But the window is not coming up. Its coming into the task bar only and when i am clicking on it its being shown.
I want my window to be automatically poped up.
Where i have gone wrong?
Thank you.
