Hi all,
I need some ideas to use optical sensors of any type to find the speed and direction of motion of a motor. The shaft of the motor is fitted with a disk as shown below. Any sections may be filled with white and/or black colors to note the transition.

Waiting for your creative ideas;)

Thanks for the site but the circle that I want to make the design for is divided into 4 sectors only.

Just read the whole article, instead of only the first section.

I know that sounds rather general, well let's get specific. I have a GeoForce 7100 GS video card. It is a PCIex with 256 MB of onboard memory. It is listed as "Vista Compatible", I have tried every known driver (I can find). even to the extent of trying one of nVidia's newest beta drivers.
My system continues to crash, crash, crash . When I revert back to my onboard video, GeoForce 6100 with 64 MB of onboard memory, my system stabilizes but I would like to be able to utilize the more powerful card.
Any help or sugesstions in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

All the new laptops seem to have monitors with a glossy finish.
Do the manufacturers think we like to look at glare?
|
|
|

I'm not sure either. The colors look brighter than in a matte finish LCD; but the glare problem, or even simple reflection in a lighted room with a dark image is much more annoying IMO. IF you only use predominantly white applications though it the glossy screen is definitely better. I'm just waiting for a revival in antiglare screens to hang in front of your LCD, followed by the first lawsuits from people who cracked their screens by not remembering to remove them before closing the lid.

That's about what I told my friends too.
I also told them to put a bunch of masking tape on the screens to reduce glare.
Where's a VC when you need one?
I wonder if I should send a note to 3M.

Masking tape would also keep them from being distracted by anything on-screen. Imagine the increase in productivity - genius!

Dear Sirs;
We have bought a HP ML 350 G5 server where we feed all our applications. Those application are written in Clipper 5.2 and Visual c++ 6.0
From a station, when we execute one program in this server, the station restart (with clipper application) or the station hang (with Visual c++ 6.0 application)
Those application run normally on HP ML 350 G3.
What to do ?

Open Command Prompt and type ping (url/ip) .
rituparn wrote: and plz let mw know am i talking about hacking by any chance
No, pinging is a perfectly normal (and legal) action.

pinging is not a hacking instruction.

Actually I think I can see what you're trying to get at. Are you referring to pinging both the public facing IP address and an Internal address say behind a firewall?
Unless the router allows IP forwarding so that an external IP is mapped to one behind the firewall probably, then no you probably can't do both.

Hello
How I can receive the list of all com ports
|
|
|
|
|
Just go to Control Panel - System - Device Manager - COM Ports , unless you meant something else.

That's something at least. But I want receive the list of all com ports from my program. To use only WinApi.

Enumerate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOMM registry key.

Hi,
it is rather simple to try a series of port names, as in the following code:
public static object[] GetSerialPorts() {
ArrayList ports=new ArrayList();
byte[] bytes=new byte[1024];
for (int port=1; port<30; port++) {
string portName="COM"+port;
int size=1024;
bool exists=GetDefaultCommConfig(portName, bytes, ref size);
if (exists) ports.Add(portName);
}
return ports.ToArray();
}
[DllImport("kernel32.dll", CharSet=CharSet.Ansi,
CallingConvention=CallingConvention.Cdecl)]
public static extern bool GetDefaultCommConfig(string portName, byte[] buf,ref int bufSize);
The above works on all .NET versions.
Starting with .NET 2.0 you can use SerialPort.GetPortNames() to get all serial port
names (also those that are not COM#).

System Configuration:
ASUS Motherboard-VN Series
512 MB DDR RAM
Athlon 1.8 GHZ processor
When I switch on the system(CPU), I hear a booting sound, and after sometimes of working or after showing the POST screen, the monitor turns red(Means it loses its connection to CPU). After that even if I switch on, only Mouse(Optical) light is seen. Mother board light is on at that time and also both the fans(Processor & CPU) are running in the MotherBoard. It happened 15 days before and I just cleaned up the motherboard and it has been working for the past 15 days(could be incidental). I just cleaned up the motherboard and that went in vain. I request someone to help me in this scenario.
