What things are recommended to be kept in App_Code Folder? Is it be must for som things?

You can store source code in the App_Code folder, and it will be automatically compiled at run time. The resulting assembly is accessible to any other code in the Web application. The App_Code folder therefore works much like the Bin folder, except that you can store source code in it instead of compiled code. The App_Code folder and its special status in an ASP.NET Web application makes it possible to create custom classes and other source-code-only files and use them in your Web application without having to compile them independently.
The App_Code folder can contain source code files written as traditional class files — that is, files with a .vb extension, .cs extension, and so on. However, it can also include files that are not explicitly in a specific programming language. Examples include .wsdl (Web service description language) files and XML schema (.xsd) files. ASP.NET can compile these files into assemblies.
The App_Code folder can contain as many files and subfolders as you need. You can organize your source code in any way that you find convenient, and ASP.NET will still compile all of the code into a single assembly that is accessible to other code anywhere in the Web application.

Satips.

Contains source code for utility classes and business objects (for example, .cs, .vb, and .jsl files) that you want to compile as part of your application. In a dynamically compiled application, ASP.NET compiles the code in the App_Code folder on the initial request to your application. Items in this folder are then recompiled when any changes are detected.

If you ASP.NET application can access database, Using the same login information you can access the backend database also. My suggestion could be keep your login informations secure .

I we want to share data between the pages within a session, we have to
use Session variables.
To share data between the applications , we have to use Application variables.

Session variables are for perticular seesion i.e life span is only for that session afer user logs out or session ends this varaibles no longer exist .
Application variables are for the application level they exist beyond n numbers of seesion untill application is running .
Take an example
IF i want to know number of users using my website at same time i will use Application variable for that.
Where as if i want to know time span for which user was on line i will use session variable

I have been trying to send an email from a form using a sendmail script that I found on this site by Nathan Ridley. I have implemeted it and am having trouble getting it to send the email. There is a test mode for the script that works fine. I am sending it using the HTML template and when it is in test mode it comes up in the browser no problem. When I set test mode to no, I submit the form and get the confirmation page but no email is sent. I have tried multiple emails and also tried to add a few lines a code I have seen on other send mail scripts, but when I change the code I get errors. I get no errors with the script Nathan wrote, there is just no email sent. I am wondering if anyone has any recomendations for me.

Did you check if Virus is blocking in sending the mail.
or what error it shows while you send the mail?

I din't think about antivirus blocking it. I will look into that. i don't get any error when I hit the submit button. I am taken to the confirmation page by the redirect just like it is supposed to, but no email is sent. I am wondering if it is a server setting that I over looked.

Hello
I have a PDA application that has been developed using VB 2005 smart device.
The PDA has been designed to access a web service and download data from a database that the web service can access.
However, the user will not know the location of web reference of the web service until after they install the PDA.
So the web reference will have to be configured when the user starts the PDA application. The user might also want to configure the PDA to use another web service so this will have to be configured to change web services.
Before I used VS to add the web reference during development. However, this cannot be done now as only the user will know what web service to connect to.
Is there any method that can be used to add a web reference during the run-time of the PDA application, and change to another web service?
Many thanks for any suggestions,
Steve

I need to create a light weight Questionpaper Application in .Net, which a user can download from web.
After installation, the application should contact my webserver to fetch questions and display to the user and at the end of
the test, all the user responses need to be saved to my database online. Can someone advise what .NET technology I should
use to get this accomplished?
i thought of using ASP .Net for this application, but there are issues like browser compatability, i need to disable forward
and backward buttons. Is there any solution for this?
