yes. for example when you have two drop downs for country, and cities in that country, you can populate city drop down on the change of country drop down etc. I personally do not use it because it can be a bit annoying as user can mistakenly chose wrong option and then have to wait for reload, a better option will be to give addition button for post back.

The same manner you are assigning the value to session object, you can read the value from the session object and you can populate the grid.
But in your question you are asking, "I want this button to display the gridview on the other page".
What do you mean here?

I know it was not proper answer but many times users post the query without searching they should first try to get from web then after reading if they have any doubt then they should post the query in the Forum.
