This is a SQL question, it has nothing to do with ASP.NET, I recommend asking in the SQL forum.

I assigned the user ASPNET to Administrator group, and the thing worked.
1. What is the implication of this?
2. Is there any other way to solve this problem without assigning the ASPNET user to Administrator?
3. What is the function of the user ASPNET?
thank u for your response

1) Any user and applicaiton running in the ASP.NET process has complete control of your database and server.
2) Grant the ASPNET account access to the specific database necessary or create a sql login account for that database and use it in the connection string. Not using Integrated Security of course.
3) To run ASP.NET

Hi,
I have a table which has a field ItemsReceived of type datetime. I
have a grid view which has two columns.
In first column i have to show the data from field ItemsReceived and
in second column I have to show
difference between Currenttime and date from ItemReceived. How can I
do that.
e'g
ItemRecieved Difference
6/13/2007 12:38am 1d 21h 45m
6/13/2007 3:54pm 1d 06h 10m
6/15/2007 12:26pm 34m
So the second coulmn displays the difference of current time minus
ItemRecieved. the format shouild be <mintues>m,
or<hours>h, <mintues>m, or <days>d.
How can I do that.

i'm using vs 2003 to develop an web app.
it exports data to a excell worksheet and fills some charts.
what is bugging me is that i can't select a chart, fill it and then select another chart and fill it.
in asp i use this
iExcel.Sheets("Graficos").ChartObjects("Gráfico 1025").Activate<br />
Set crt = iExcel.Sheets("Graficos").ChartObjects("Gráfico 1025")<br />
to select the chart and then work with it.
and in asp.net???
how can i do this???
help would be appreciated
thanks in advance

In ASP.NET it will work exactly the same, as in both cases, you're just using a COM object.

This is more a Visual Studio doubt than an ASPX question, but anyway:
I'm currently using VS2005 to develop ASP 2.0 (aspx) pages. Our pages template are somewhat different from your usual ASP Web Form, in that it doesn't have the html xmlns tag and DOCTYPE tag, which VS usually inserts on its default Web Form pages.
Very well, the problem is this: for some reason, VS doesn't recognizes ASP tags (<asp:xxx />) on our document. This fact blocks the use of AutoComplete and worse yet, it messes up with the "format" funcionality because everything inside a asp:panel is inserted on a single line.
Anyone has any ideia on what makes VS recognize asp tags inside a aspx document? Does it has anything to do with the inherited class or with some "include-like" tag on the code, such as link and @Page?
Could it be that some of our header code is messing things up? Our page doesn't have <body> or <head> or any other default html tags because the architecture inserts the webcode into another page (something like the "master" functionality).
Thanks in advance for any light on the subject.

No, I don't use that tag, and auto complete works fine for me.

Hello,
In my first web application I have the problem with my dataset.
In the Page_Load I fill my dataset and I see the information in the Datagrid.
Next I click the button and want to do something with the information. But I don't see it. DataView.count returns 0. What should I do?
Thanks for help

Are you messing up with the dataset on every Page_Load call? You should just fill the dataset if the page isn't being refresh:
if (!IsPostBack)
{
// load in here your dataset
}
|
|
|
|
|
No I load my dataset inside the block !IsPostBack.
|
|
|
|
|
Set a break point in your Page_Load event. You should find that your datagrid is being loaded during the initial event int the !IsPostback block. However, when you click a button on the page it is causing a postback, which will cause this block of code to not execute.
To solve, in your case, move the code where you bind the datagrid to a datasource out of the !IsPostback block.

Hi ,
I want to run a powerpoint slide show in a ASPX with some buttons like auto,next forward and so on.
Is is possible that we can show the slide show on the asp.net page so that the user cannot download the presentation, and can only view it online.
Thanks.

No - you'd have to write your own pages to show still images which you then feed yourself to the user. You're not going to get any animations, unless you write them with flash or SVG or something.

What if you make your tag call a method in the code behind, pasing in the dataitem, so you can do the cast in C# code ? Then you can also see the data, to confirm that it's only ever true/false ( I doubt it is, this should work )

Hy.
In my first App. I hab a DataView where i concat a string for the Rowfilter. After that I returned the DataView
I exicuted it and it worked.
Now I have to sent the result via a Webservice.
The first Prob was that the WebService doesn´t know the DataView so I changed it into a DataTable.
Now I have the problem that I return a DataTable, and the changes from the filter are not in it.
data.RowFilter = filter;<br />
<br />
return data.Table;
where data is a normal DataView and filter is just a String.
So here is my question:
How do I get the result of the rowFilter() ???
Thx Cheers
Sorry! Sorry!
Just did it! After one hour work!
If someone is interested in this here is the code:
data.RowFilter = filter;<br />
<br />
System.Data.DataTable table = new System.Data.DataTable();<br />
table= data.ToTable();<br />
return table;
It isn´t nice I know, nut what the hack
Cheers
