Hi,
I am using VB.NET 1.1. Is it possible to check if a value is just decimal (9.99) or just numeric (9)?

Hi M,
Just try IndexOf(".") property to get whether decimal exist's or not

That method doesn't account for culture differences. The period is used in English formats, but others, for example, use a comma for the decimal seperator.

If your code is running on different cultures, you have to account for the differences in number formatting:
Dim currCulture As CultureInfo = CultureInfo.CurrentCulture
Dim decimalSeperator As String = currCulture.NumberFormat.NumberDecimalSeperator
Then you can use the string in decimalSeperator in your IndexOf call.

Hi,
In my new project, There is a grid control and a group of textboxes. The Grid is populated with data from the database. What i am supposed to do is when the user clicks on a particular row in the grid, i have to load the contents of the cells to the textboxes.
What should i do to achieve this?
Any valuable clues/urls?
Thanks in advance.....

Hi,
You can cater the row enter event of the grid which will give you the row index of the current selected row...from there you can get each cell value in that row and populate the textboxes.

Thanks for your quick reply........
actually i wanted to perform this a method other than you suggested.....
what i need is to populate the textboxes with out much coding(i think bounded controls), i don't have an exact idea about bounded controls...
I hope you got the scenario, can you suggest some other..?
Thanks once agin

Hello,
I have created a project in vb.net. In which i am downloading a wave file
from a device. To listen this audio file i need to tag it available codec format. and for this I am using G726 . But even after the tagging iam unable to hear it with window player and real plater as tagging might not be proper.
So, i will be very greatful if someone could tell me the exact format of tagging or provide some sample code at the earliest.
Any help would be highly appreciated.Thank you.

So what format is this wave file? If it's not a well-known format, you're going to have to re-encode the file to a well-known format, like WAV or MP3. In order to do this, you're going to need to know how the format comming off the device works. If you don't know this, you're pretty much SOL.

Hi,
There is a program and also a datagrid on it. I want to get datum from that datagrid. How do i do it programmaticly? Is it possible? Thanks in advance.

No, it's probably not possible. How do you even know it's a datagrid ?

OK. I don't know whether it was developped under VB.net or not. Furthermore I don't know whether the control is a datagrid or not, only it is look like a datagrid. What must I do for this circumstance?

Like I said in your other post, you can't do this unless you come up with an Optical Characer Recognition implementation to "read" the screen image. There's no API you can use to get the data for you.

share the data source of the grid .
but if the case of two separate applications , then think of xml
solution
When you get mad...THINK twice that the only advice

The "other" program could be written in anything - The OP has not said what it is written in. We can only assume that the program he is writing now is in VB.NET.

If it's a different program that you didn't write, you don't. Not unless you want to implement an OCR solution.

MY project is having lot of forms. When I open the main form navigating to some other forms and again come back to main form means, memory usage is not come to starting stage. Normally I go for 5 or 10 iteration, that Memory Usage increased continously. What is reason? Any one help for me.

The Garbage Collection doesn't run instantly so objects can hang around in memory for a while.
Another option is that you might have a memory leak, heres an article on common winform memory leaks.
http://blogs.msdn.com/davidklinems/archive/2005/11/16/493580.aspx[^]
To definativly find out you could use a profiler like Redgate's Ants or Jetbrains dotTrace.

When you start a .NET application it allocates a big heap of memory for its own use and the framework memory handling system (also the "garbage collection") works with this.
When you work in VB6 the app grows the heap each time you need more memory.
Since heap management takes clock cycles, the .NET designers have traded memory footprint for speed (and stability).
The analogy is like if you are building a wall. The .NET way is to order a palette of bricks (which takes up space on your driveway) and take from the palette as the wall is built - only getting another palette if the current one runs out whereas the VB6 way is to go to the store for each brick in turn.

when i want to run the project that i made it yesterday and it was working very well
the vb show me this error
error while trying to run the project : could not load file assembly 'ehab' or one of it's dependancies.the module was expected to contain an assembly manifest
any one have any suggestion...?
|
|
|
|
|
It's saying that it can't find an assembly, called "ehab", probably "ehab.dll", in the application's startup folder. Did you miss copying all the .DLL files from your build folder to the folder where you deployed your app? Did you delete anything?
