hi ,
I am creating a controls of type combobox at runtime when user clicks a button . If i click the combobox ,it show the custom properties of combobox inherited from Combobox.
Here when i am entering items of a combobox and clicking again that particular combobox , It's not showing the items which i entered .
So how to maintain those items of that combobox when users comebacks to that particular combobox 1,,,etc
1) How to Handle Items Property as a property for runtime combobox ? <br />
<br />
2) How to Show the items of particular combobox when user selects again?

You could code against the Validate Event to add the Text to the Combo Box:
If Me.cbo.Text <> "" Then
Me.cbo.Items.Add(Me.cbo.Text)
End If

This is not the thing . It deals with String Collection Editor and some other things .Those items are not persistent there for that combobox .
I want to add only Items as strings .I amnot gettingthe correct help from web .
I am new to this thing .

You won't get the local ip of the machine, only the ip from the router that it is on.

It only knows whats up to your router, in terms of ip, then the router redirects.

Does VB.Net allow you to mouse over an image and enlarge it? Or am I completely off? Is dreamweaver the answer...I am new as of yesterday to all of this so Im learning everyday!
I am excited to learn this!!
thanks

You can probably use the MouseOver event to do whatever you want (for the most part) with the image when running the mouse over it.

In ASP.NET ? VB.NET won't allow to do it when using with ASP.NET. You need to use some javascript for that.

I have several thousand small text files (each containing data on a separate stock) that I need to sequentially read and write. What would be the fastest file format to convert these files to in order to do that? I tried to create a datatable and serialize it, which seems pretty good -- but is it likely to be the best?
Thanks!

Certainly if you are going to be using the data many times you would be better to convert the files into a database of some description, then work with your database.
Of course, all this goes out the window if you get a new set of "several thousand small text files" each day...

Yes the files are new every day.
Isn't it possible to store the data from a text file in a file that is _smaller_ than the textfile itself? If I create a database and then serialize it, the resulting file is about 10x _larger_ than the original textfile.
Is there a binary file format that would allow a quicker read of the data into a datatable? Or is serializing the datatable likely to be fastest?
Thanks

What exactly is it that you are trying to accomplish?

OK, I want to read the file from disk. It is an two dimensional array of double() - size about 10 x 300
Then I need to go through the array and make some simple calculations
Then close the file and do the next file.
...many thousands of times, as fast as possible.
Perhaps I should be using binarystreamreader?
Do datatables have a lot of overhead?
thanks

when i update a record in the database using command from another form, the database becomes updated but the oledbdataadapter in the second form does not relect this changes until i restart the application. when I deployed the application, the changes do not even reflect even when I restart the application though the updated record appears in the database
this is the code i use to refresh the dataset.
Try
DsAsets1.Clear()
OleDbDataAdapter1.Fill(DsAsets1)
count()
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.ToString)
End Try
I am using Ms Access as my database.

Sounds like you have to somehow commit the dataset to the database.

I am quite new to windows form programing. In my application i want to be able to show a dialog box that has a progressbar in it when the main form loads a set of images into memory. I have created the form that contains a progress bar in it.. now what?
Thank you very much

Load your images in a thread so your UI remains responsive, then update the progress bar when each image loads. You want to use the BackgrouindWorker class, it can send messages to the UI thread to update progress.

I was wondering if it possible to get VB to connect to a MySQL database or not, I've tried a few tutorials and I can't get it to work. I Don't want VB.NET to do it as I'm running this script on server that only serves PHP

Do you mean VB6 or VBscript ? Neither has anything to do with PHP.
