Any CP Admin around can help?
ASP.NET forums appears very much distorted. The alignment between the threads, left banners seems to be terribly disturbed.
Has someone put a bad HTML in a message or like that?
The links like 'Reply' are operational anyway.

I was wondering for a few minutes if the problem was with my browser, but I guess not.

Yes it appears very badly. I tried in all the browsers available in my machine thinking it is a browser issue.

It looks to be fine now. The distortion has moved to Page 2. My doubt is that some dumb fellow has put broken HTML in his query.
We would get to know only after a CP Administrator looks into the forum posts and confirms on this. Only they can correct and repair the broken HTML.

The count of my posted msgs is 1003 today. How come "posting status" keep on showing "Regular"? Is this because the database of user profile hasn't synchronized yet?

The Visual C++/MFC forum is very unresponsive this morning. The others seem fine.

None of the forums that are in the "Non-programming related discussions" category can be searched through your search UI. Also, the forums "Subtle Bugs" and "Coding Horrors" seem to me to be very programming related, although they are filed under the unsearchable category NPRD stated above.

It would be great if we have a way to query the latest posts since we visited here last time.. For example, I visited here around 11/12/2007 9:00 AM. then, I come back here around 11/12/2007 1:00 PM.. I wanna know how many "new posts" have been posted within 4 hours.. so, I click the link (let's say "Get the latest posts" ) and I will get the list of latest posts that have been posted within 4 hours...
It would be more better if we have the options to select which forum that we wanna watch.. For me, I'm more familiar with Javascript, ASP.NET and C# so I used to participate in C#, ASP.NET and Web development forum section.. (sometimes, in other forum section too... ) I would like to get the latest posts of those three forum in one shot..
I have seen like that in other forum... I think it's cool to have here too..
What do you say??

Two things:
1. The overhead would be huge keeping track of what has changed since you last visited for 4+ million users.
2. The forum list at the top highlights items that are new since a period in time (usually when the session has expired). At least that way, you can see where new posts are.
Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

|

Yeah... I saw those highlight items .. what about making a list of those highlighted items (from different section)in one page?? I saw like that in devx forum that has high traffic.....

To solve the issue you presented in #1, why couldn't you just set a timestamp cookie for the user each time he or she visits the page. Then, on every consecutive visit, the page could be populated with all messages with a timestamp later than the last visit by the user. If no cookie exists for a user (or cookies are not enabled), then the webite is shown without that additional information.
If you are concerned with the amount of time spent computing which threads are new, you could optimize it by taking snapshots every hour of the posts from that hour only, comparing those snapshots to the cookie mentioned previously, then return the results.

Hi All,
Small Sugestion. CheckSum.Asm.zip was renamed to CheckSumAsm.zip without informing the author, which resulted in a File Not Found.
That's not nice...

In the artice submission wizard?
When you upload a file that may contain characters in itsfilename that could cause problems the submission wizard dsplays a clear warning next to the uploaded file explaining that it had been renamed and that you should adjust your references to that file in your HTML.
IF that didn't occur then letme know and I will fix.

I have seen a lot of people including snippets with the < code > tags insteads of < pre >.
For new people, and specially new non-english people, is quite easy to confuse making the messages more difficult/unconfortable to read.
What about a change of name?
Greetings.
