Thanks for the solution, Nelek.
I think it would be great if CP team can give us the url-redirecting thing for that.

1. Votes are disappeared
This will be added.
2. Lost all of my paramlinks from old forum
They are back. A bad database entry had ruined our elegant system
3. Clicking the "formatting icons" makes postback
Firefox? Can you visit www.codeprojec.com/script/misc/browsercheck.aspx and let me know what it says?
4. The old data are showing in my profile page
Weird. We took a snapshot from Sunday 8am. When did you update it?
5. The order of Forum section makes me so confused
This is a byproduct of trying to group forums and will be revisited
6. Searching and Next
Hobbled until we have all perf issues sorted.
7. Missed Features
They will all be added. WYSIWYG editor is tricky because we need a custom version that does everything. We'll see how our curren one goes and if we can iron it out we'll make it ubiquitous.
8. Show IntelliTXT ads in articles I contribute
It's advertising but with a twist: we let you decide whether you want us to show ads to everyone else. Usually sites just allow you to turn it off for yourself but we wanted to go further and allow you to turn it off for everyone if you so choose.

I updated on the day when you start upgrading. BTW, there is my message and one reply in my profile page. Sometimes, my message is totally disappeared.. and sometimes, it shows again.. What could be the problem??
Chris Maunder wrote: This is a byproduct of trying to group forums and will be revisited
Thanks. I think that ASP.NET, C# and VB.NET are a lit bit confusing. What about WebForm (.NET) and Winform (.NET)? Because some people used to post the web related questions in C# forum but we can't ignore that since those questions are in C#.
Chris Maunder wrote: Hobbled until we have all perf issues sorted.
Sorry, chris. What is "perf" issue?

What about FCK Editor or TinyMCE (Tiny Moxiecode Content Editor)?
Thanks for your reply, Chris.

Hi All,
The new style sheet seems to be lacking some attributes of the old. For example, [H3] is rendered with the same text size as [H2], and [CAPTION] is larger than [P] or [BODY] text.

I don't know if there would be much support for this, but as the number of forums continually increases, it would be good if you could save in your profile your favourite forums, and have a single link on the forum page to take you to the next forum in your personal list.
We would still have the full list of forums so you could access any, but have prev/next links to navigate through your personal favourites.

I second that, except maybe for the "as the number of forums continually increases" part.
Math/Algo, Visual Studio, WinForms, ... have disappeared.
As a fallback, I would like a more logical ordering of the forums (see the 3 columns on top of
most of them); it got changed but not improved IMO.

- before you ask a question here, search CodeProject, then Google

- use PRE tags to preserve formatting when showing multi-line code snippets

The math/Algo is still there, (here[^] in fact), the others probably are as well but I haven't looked, so I suspect that soon the numbers of links will expand.
It did disappear completely intially, but I guess the hampsters checked the trash before it was collected.

Great.
So we can meet there again.
Thanks for the link.
BTW: I'm using IE favorites now to navigate the forums!

Why not to use the usual favourites in your web browser? (You like 3 Forums... just put them in browser) If you want to go to another forum (for any reason) it is easy to jump from the list-overview above in the forum page.
In the profile is actually the selection of your areas of interes (VC++, VB, MFC, COM...) and most have similarities with forums list

There is no longer an Advanced search option where I can limit the technologies searched [ie. look in VB.NET and C# but not ASP]. Is this by design? Also, every search I make returns 2 pages but both pages are identical. Is this something on my end? Or yours?
Thanks!
Mike
Ok, now this is bad! Google can find an article in CP that CP's search can't find!

Read the very first post in the Lounge[^].

Hello,
This issue started occurring since an update of codeproject. I use Firefox 2.0 and when I reload codeproject I am being signed out automatically despite the fact that I have checked remember my password. Also, when I open a link in new tab, I am signed out too. This doesn't happen all the time but sometimes it happens.

My link has been broken all week and I can't seem to find the lastest articles anymore.
My link is www.codeproject.com/info/latest.asp
this link now goes to http://www.codeproject.com/script/common/404.aspx?
How do I get back to the latest articles again?

Hi
There's something strange in the Message-List of the user Forum. if you click on the bottom's "Next" it will always show you the first page. and the top's Next Link gets you through the pages but if there aren't more posts (let's say you have only posted 140 messages) the last page will be and empty "latest posts" - page. the top link sets the page params to &pgnum1=3 and the bottom link sets the param to &pgnum2=2 and if you click one after the other you get both params added which tells you on top that you're on page 3 of 4 and on the bottom you're on page 2 of 4

Why default of Message Type is for General on the forums like C++ users usually dont change icon of General to question and use of default.
|
|
|

"Answer" would be more appropriate while posting to C++ / MFC forums.

Paresh.

I think Chris Team should consider upgrading thier 404 error handlers at priority since a number of article links land up in a 404 and then suggest the nearest link.
These are, strictly speaking, not a 404 as of now. Optimistically viewing it since they have been upgraded to a newer URL pattern and hence the need of the hour is a neater and cleaner background URLRewrite.
Towards this and to address genuine 404s resulting from expired messages/articles, the current 404 handler may need to be considerably revisited.
