Hi Friends
I am getting this error when i try to read excel file using the
oledb object.And if i change the setting impersonate=false in web.config file , the chart software will stop working.
I also went through the below microsoft article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;825738
but still the problem persists.
Well as per the aritcle I tried with my_computer_name, IIS, IUSR in the security tab but of no use.
Any help guys......

Why do you want to set impersonate=false in web.config? If you set it to false then you may not have the permission to read the excel file..
If you want to give the permission, add all accounts (esp: ASPNET and IUSR_Machine name) to the security tab of the folder where the excel file is localed. and give them the full permission..

Thnks for ur answer Michael
Well if one use OLEdb object, it creates some file
in temp folder "c\Documents and Settings\name of server\ASPNET\Local Settings\temp". I have given full permission (ASPNET and IUSR_Machine name) to this folder still the error persists.
Any idea.

i want to save my login name in globaly.
how is it?
pls give me a code.
Gayatri
|
|
|
|
|
1. Session["loginName"] = "Gayatri";
OR
2. Cache["loginName"] = "Gayatri";

hi
In my login screen when any user will login,
that time that username will save in globaly.
and in one program i want to use it.

So, In login form, you can save it like that
Session["loginName"] = txtUserName.Text;
in other page, you can get like that ~
Label1.Text = Session["loginName"];

What do you mean by saving Globally ? Do you want all the visitors get this information or only that user who is logging in ? If all users should get the value, Session won't help much.

I have to display 20 Ads which are stored in a database. I am using a GridView to display these Ads (3 Ads in one page). Is it possible to add a timer to the GridView so that it will automatically display the next page of Ads in every 30 seconds
|
|
|
|
|
You can use "Javascript Timer" for that.
OR
Use ASP.NET Ajax Timer control..
|
|
|
|
|
By using AJAX controls we can do this

im a newbie in c# could anyone help me with me a code.. i have a dropdown month which start FRom to To. I have a data through database accordingly to month so i want to to view the data according to their month for example data for january, data for feb, and so far an so on depending of what month did i choose in the dropdown.(hope you'll understand my situation. Please somebody help me out to this code.)

1. You need to know how to bind the Dropdownlist with Dataset. (If you want the code for that, you can google like that "ASP.NET Dropdownlist with DataSet")
2. There is one event called SelectedIndexChanged in Dropdownlist. You can need to write the code in this event to bind your dpl with Dataset. As you want to query the data according to the selected month, you need to pass the selected value of dropdownlist to your querystring..
That's all..

You should probably search like "GridView Vs Repeater" or "DataGrid Vs Repeater"...

Hi all:
I recently graduated from SetFocus' .NET Masters program, and I'm working on my firts website. It's going to be a community website, for me and my friends, and I'm having fun applying everything I learned, but there are some things that have me confounded.
For one thing I've added a background image to my Master page, but when I view any of the pages of my site in my browser (Firefox), the image does not appear (note, I've also tried it with IE6, but no luck). I've tried using Style to configure the background, and I've also tried it using the properties of the master page. I've checked a number of websites including Google, and even this site, for anything that might explain why this is happening, but haven't found anything useful. Does anyone know of any additional configuration that needs to be done to view a background image?
Other questions that have come up are:
1. whether we can name the web.sitemap file anything we choose (and if so, how do I point components like sitemap path and menu to a sitemap with a different name)?
2. how do I get changes to the content on the master page to show up on the other pages on my site (it doesn't automatically update, and I have to use the smart tag to "default to master content", which "loses" other content that I might have on the individual page).
Any help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated....

Are you sure that your content pages refer to that masterpage? You must either use the MasterPageFile attribute in the <%@ Page %> directive of every page to refer to your masterpage or you could use the masterPageFile attribute of the <pages> element in web.config (more recommended, your masterpage will be used for every .aspx file in your website as long as you don't define a different masterpage in your pages.)
