Things are normal if CPhog is disabled. May be I'll run a day or two without CPhog and report it here if I spot this bug again.

Top quality articles can be flaged as 'Featured' on codeproject. For example article of the month can be a candidate. This may create a new catagory of articles and a checkbox in search. Here is a definition of 'Featured Article' on wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Featured_article_criteria[^]
Currently 'Featured' category is possibly not similar on codeproject.
Thanks

For the last week or so whenever I visit codeproject.com I get a 401 error.
If I choose refresh I get the same error, but if I do shift refresh the page loads perfectly and every link works fine from then on until I open a new session when I get the same 401 error.
Its like something is being cached somehow and causing the authentication error.
Is anyone else experiencing this? For me it affects both IE and FF.
HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.

There was a 401 issue last week but that was fixed quickly. Can you send me a screen shot next time you see this?

Hi Quaver,
Thanks for the input. I'm on Bulldog broadband, but I don't think its their problem. CP has always worked perfectly until the strange 401 errors the other week and it seems to be some side-effect of that.
I suspect its either an issue with the gateway in our company caching one of the 401s somehow or possibly an on-going issue with CodeProject. But as no-one else is complaining about 401s on CP I have to assume the problem must lie at our end. I'm going to try to get our admin guys to look into it.
The Tiscali thread makes for rather a strange read! I'm not sure whether Tiscali have an issue there or not! Anyhow, I do know that Bulldog were bought out by Pipex about 1 year ago and are in someway related to Tiscali as they redirect new business to them now. So its possibly related but I doubt it.
I can tracert to CP without any problems.

I just posted a news tip to BuzzWords Hall of Shame (the new forum in CodeProject). Is there any homepage customizations to be done to make the topic appear in Homepage also? Or is homepage not displaying this because of cache?

Actually, we had a related discussion with respect to Soapbox. We can not Soapbox top contents because it might be aggressive. But today, after the first few posts, I felt that you can consider the top posts. Isn't it? They are only informative and not irritating or aggressive.

My article (Star Wars style text scroller[^]) has been moved to wrong category (Languages » C / C++ Language » General). In top of article we can see "C#, C# 2.0, Windows, .NET, .NET 2.0, Visual Studio, GDI+, Dev"
It must be in "Languages » C# » General" or in "Languages » C# » Windows Forms".
Please, move this article to the right category.
My english is not so good. Please, correct my errors.
Best regards, Alexey.

I was helping out a colleague in his survey application to make one of a friendly data entry field using a simple JavaScript slider. Actually, we used (Tigra slider) one as a starting point, which is really impressive:

I just thought of sharing this with CP also, since it would be a good to have this for our Voting. Instead of just separate 1, 2, 3, 4,5 this would be a fancy GUI. It would increase the amount of voting granularity like 2.5 but at the same time, on the server side, we need to be more careful regarding the precision.

Cool. I've been waiting for years together to throw votes like 3.52, 1.23, etc.,
I mean that's what we need.

[I know you've shot this down when I suggested it before, so maybe someone else has an idea for implementation that will achieve what I would like to do...]
I'm looking at updating some of my previous articles - you know, the ones that have several pages worth of forum posts. It's a little painful to go through the posts one at a time, especially when you have to go back & forth between pages. What I would like to do is download all the posts to my PC so that I can browse through them while I look at my code. My idea: have a "Download All Posts" button appear at the top of each article forum, which would show up only when the author is looking at the page. I know this is simplistic, but it would really be helpful. Maybe the button would cause all the posts to be displayed on a single page, which could then be saved?
If anyone has a better idea of how to achieve this, please post!

I'd have to second that thought - I know you've written some good articles (maybe some rubbish ones too that I haven't noticed...)
And anything that makes it easier for useful articles to be kept up to date by their authors has to be a good thing.
Only one of mine is nudging into that territory, so it doesn't affect me *yet* - but I can hope.

Still trying to get to the bottom of this one. The actual issue is the web application being unable to load the web.config file. This isn't supposed to happen but does. At the moment no idea why
