The FileWebrequest does not seem to be in the Compact Framework either.
Or should I add a reference or something?

Hello,
Sorry about that. Yes, FileWebrequest is not available in CF. However you can use the HttpWebRequest or WebRequestclass to achieve the desired.

There is a new UI freeware available for WM5 and WM6. This UI, called PointUI is a thumb enabled UI that makes your WM phone much easier to use.
I am a WM device developer, and this UI inspired my next project. I am thinking to use an interface just like PointUI (i.e. without all the windows buttons, scrollbars)
I am not too experience in this fashion as I have only programed using windows forms in WM devices. What would be a good choice to start with if I want to program in .NET? Would directdraw be a good choice?

Hi,
I am currently trying to code a C program that will allow my PC to use the mobile phone to connect to the Internet.
I am able to connect to the mobile phone DUN service using the Bluetooth profile.
But how do I use PPP to work with the Bluetooth DUN connection that I have set up?
Any advice to point me in the right direction or resources is deeply appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
Loh

Hello,
Is the Unix machine you are trying to connect to on the network?
Are you able to transfer data to and fro from the machine in a windows application?
Is there by any chance a firewall in between which can be blocking the communication?

Hello,
If you have installed the Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC SDK, you have the sample showing the same on your machine. The location for the samples would be:
C:\Program Files\Windows CE Tools\wce500\Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC SDK\Samples\Cs\Cecamera
To download the Mobile 5.0 PPC SDK, use the link below:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=83A52AF2-F524-4EC5-9155-717CBE5D25ED&displaylang=en
Can also refer to the following link with tell of the different APIs used:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms880615.aspx

Hello,
I do not see the Cecamera sample in the Windows Mobile 6.0 SDK. You may refer the sample from the Windows 5.0 SDK to develop your own application for Windows Mobile 6.0.

Hi Guy
i think u can't directlly call that method. so try a custom menu inherit from the menu anmd override the Onpaint event with a ur own method and call to with in the event. So try directlly, if not get success try with ur custom menu.
Cheers,Earn and Enjoy

Is there a way to uniquely identify a Windows Mobile 5.0 device? I am using web services to sync data and I want to be able to identify which device is being synced so I can send only the needed data.
I'm assuming each Windows Mobile installation has a guid. Does anybody know?

I get the impression that those solutions are completely native code. I'm using C#. I'd like to use managed code. I could use System.Net.Dns.GetHostName(), but that's unreliable for uniqueness.

Hi,

Yes that is correct, the .NET Compact Framework / Windows Mobile OS doesn't provide any managed way to easily access the unique device id.
However this shouldn't be too much of an issue, since it can be worked around via a little bit of Platform Invoke code. For example www.pinvoke.net has a page discussing how you could do this on a Windows Mobile 5.0 or higher device via a function called GetDeviceUniqueID at http://pinvoke.net/default.aspx/coredll/GetDeviceUniqueID.html
Hope this helps,
