Hi Himanshu,
Getting the owner information is not a problem, we can get it, if the user has entered the information in the "owner information".
How can we access the phone number from the smartphone if the user hasn't entered the information?
Thanks & Regards

Hi All,
I want to develop an application for the smartphone. When you run that application it should show the details about the phone, whether the phone is GPS/GPRS enabled or not and if enabled then it should transfer the details to the textboxes.
Has anyone got any suggestions and ideas. How can we do it using C#.NET and Windows Mobile 6 Professional?
Regards

Thanks and Regards

Hi..
Is there any way that I can detect an available wireless connection and connect to it with c# .NET CF?
And are there any way I can tell my device to connect to an availble network, if the network code is typed in windows without the users notice?
My problem is that I want my device to reconnect automatically when an available connection is detected. If my device has been shut down for a couple of hours or have been without connection, I have to manually reconnect to the internet, which is not possible with my program, because it cannot be closed for security reasons..
Greetings from Haolan

Hello,
I am modifing an existing Win32 smart device VS 2005 using WM5 SDK. I am coming from C# smart devices. So have very limited experience in win32 smart device development.
Does anyone know how to create a new window and set this as the start-up window.
Anyone one has any links to add forms and controls that would be a good start. In C# this was easy as its all drag and drop.
Many thanks for any suggestions,
Steve

I am working on my first pocket pc project. I need some help. We want to create a inventory system. We would like the pocket pc to get and update data via rf to the desktop PC and update an Access database. Does anyone have any suggestion on how this can work. So far I have found out these things:
-Pocket PC can not connect to server and update Access on PC.
-Pocket PC can have Pocket Access on it, but how would it update Access on PC? ActiveSync?
-SQL Server CE can be used but will that make it harder to retrieve and update data from Access on Desktop?
Can anyone give me some suggestions on the easiest way to gather info from desktop Access database and load in on Pocket PC and then turn around and update from the pocket PC to the Access data base on desktop via RF all in realtime.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what your situation or requirements are, but why don't you use SQL Server CE on the mobile device, and then use SQLExpress(free) on the PC. It may take some re-writing of code, but it will be much better in the long run. Have you considered that?

Yes, that is a consideration. The only trip-up is the client has special forms in Access that they use and we don't know if we can duplicate. So, I was would this still work if they still wanted their Access database?

There is tons of "sample code" on the net. Why don't you search for it yourself, instead of asking others to do it.

Oh. Well, I haven't tried doing any of the stuff you listed in the .NET CF with Access. So, I can't say whether or not the items you listed are totally true. However, I will assume they are. If the PC with the Access tables is on the same network as your Pocket PC when committing to that Access "database," you can create a share on the folder that the file is in, and give full read/write permissions on the folder, and the file.
Then, ADO.NET still works in the CF, you can use an OleConnection, and OleCommands to do reads and writes to that file. Are you using the office interop to do your access work, or are you using OLE? I don't even know if the office interop is CF compatible.
I'm not sure if I helped at all, or answered any questions. However, if you have any more, please feel free to ask here, and I'll do the best I can at answering, and giving advice.

Hi,
I've installed both the Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard and Professional SDKs with VS2008 on my laptop. I'm trying to run the Cellular Emulator tool, but every time I try I get the error "COM7 is in use, please verify".
I used the Device Manager to see what ports are in use and it only lists COM1, my serial port. When I go to it's properties and click on the Port Settings tab, then the Advanced... button there is a place where I can pick what com port to use. This list shows that com ports 3-17 are all in use, but I have no idea by what.
I've tried looking this up on the internet and found a lot of people with a similar problem (with a different com port), but no real solution. This forum[^] says that Windows Mobile 6 uses 14 com ports for device emulation. That's fine, but then why can't I use COM7 if it's already reserved?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I don't have bluetooth software installed.
Thank you,
Brad

Hi
How do I download a file in my c# program?
I am trying to download an exe file from a webserver to a local directory at my PDA.
I have tried to use the WebClient class from c# .NET but it seems that it doesn't exists in Compact Framework.
Can anyone please help me to solve this?

Hello,
Yes, the WebClient class is not implemented in CF. You can use the HttpWebRequest/FileWebRequest, or mainly the WebRequest class.
Check the MSDN reference for more information on these classes.

The FileWebrequest does not seem to be in the Compact Framework either.
Or should I add a reference or something?

Hello,
Sorry about that. Yes, FileWebrequest is not available in CF. However you can use the HttpWebRequest or WebRequestclass to achieve the desired.

There is a new UI freeware available for WM5 and WM6. This UI, called PointUI is a thumb enabled UI that makes your WM phone much easier to use.
I am a WM device developer, and this UI inspired my next project. I am thinking to use an interface just like PointUI (i.e. without all the windows buttons, scrollbars)
I am not too experience in this fashion as I have only programed using windows forms in WM devices. What would be a good choice to start with if I want to program in .NET? Would directdraw be a good choice?

Hi,
I am currently trying to code a C program that will allow my PC to use the mobile phone to connect to the Internet.
I am able to connect to the mobile phone DUN service using the Bluetooth profile.
But how do I use PPP to work with the Bluetooth DUN connection that I have set up?
Any advice to point me in the right direction or resources is deeply appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
Loh
