I'm trying to add a new JLabel to a custom JPanel, from a method within the JPanel itself. Problem is, while debugging, I can see the label in the components list, but it isn't displayed on the panel itself. Below is the method that should be adding the label. Can anyone see or explain why this isn't working right?
<br />
public void AddText( String text )<br />
{<br />
JLabel newText = new JLabel( text );<br />
<br />
if( Fselect )<br />
{<br />
this.TextListFRONT.add( newText );<br />
}<br />
else if( Bselect )<br />
{<br />
this.TextListBACK.add( newText );<br />
}<br />
<br />
this.add( newText, BorderLayout.CENTER );<br />
this.validate();<br />
<br />
}<br />

Yes, the poll was obviously meant for Java.CodeProject.com and not www.codeproject.com.

Teaching JAVA or COBOL should be a capitol offense. Users of either should be severely reprimanded.

are you words supposed to be wise ?

the poll is a technologic poll, not only dedicated to MS technologies.
I believe it has its full place over here then...

+3. Wonder how in the world the person writing the poll missed adding that option?
|
|
|
|
|
+4! I don't know either why they forgot to add an "other" option for people not using it.....

+6. Look at the statistics. As of 4/14, over half of the developers that responded are active with Java and plan to continue. Statistics never lie, do they?

I am a developer with more than 10 years experiencing in M$VC++.
3 years ago i take a chance to learn JAVA and now I'm a happy java developer.
Why?
because I don't have nightmare about memory overrun any more.
because there is no need to write many codes for showing a long list in M$VC++, i work with swing and enjoy OO programming.
because I can write a professional network application in an hour.
because I don't waste my clients money for a most porous OS in the world, they can freely chose their platform.
because I don't waste my time to search about something that a company do not like to share with developers.
because I work with a IDE that i can contribute in it's development phase .
because ....
now i work in a very big community that they all like their works and sharing knowledge is very important for them because they know they can grow when all the community grows not only a company.
I enjoy my OS, my IED, my browser, my community and ....
and i do not worry about a chief the throws chair because the others can grow better.

Have a nice week altogether!

I did quite a bit of java development in the past, but not anymore. I'm now a full time .NET developer. I wonder why they didn't include the "I used java but not anymore" option in the poll.

I agree, what a strange poll, there wasn't an option to select "im not a java developer"...
Now i just don't know what to do with myself.
|
|
|
|
|
That might explain the unexpected results, 90% of all codeproject fans are using java

just don't answer then if the poll don't target the king of people you're in
