I used redhat 9, FC4,6, and currently ubuntu.
I think that ubuntu is my favorite as it's a smaller download and for humans

Ubuntu (or Mythbuntu if I want MythTV).
I've tried others but it simply works best for non-gurus.

i am a fan of slackware linux, i like to build my apps directly from the source... it can be a pain at times but you get to learn more about linux this way! the nice thing about building your app from source is that the app will be optimized for your system and really it's not rocket science!
slackware comes with many desktop manager allowing you to switch easily, and i find it more suitable to work with as a developer
ubuntu is also nice, it's really easy to get started with for those new to linux, and they have a cool easy to use download manager which lets you installs other application

Just to make this post useful... if you've never used mod_rewrite for Apache, google it and learn it. It will serve you very well.

See, if I'd got first post ( again ), I'd have said something about the Shadows.

Alot of PHP devs use frameworks... Zend, CodeIgniter, etc. just to name a couple. Heck, I'm even making one (plug http://bytepattern.googlecode.com/[^]). The frameworks can make using PHP a lot different (MVC, file per page, etc.), so I wonder if there should be message boards for the popular ones.
Also, what about the bytecode compiler's like XCode? Should we get forums for that. Most PHP devs don't use that nearly as much as they should.

I think it's too early to have separate message boards. But I think we need to have good articles in CP about these frameworks.

Yeah, of course, there's a JavaProject too, but I guess we can't have it all.

Well - Brady's going to have to go into a dark room and have a bit of personal time now. The PHP board is up.
