Hi Christian,
Was this meant to be in a sarcasm block? Got a lot of respect for you from the help and solutions you've given on the C# forums (and many others I'm sure) and I feel sure that 'dissing' Linux like that is a bit below you.
I'm not going to start the usual M$ vs *nix debate, or flame any internal distro wars - but in my experience both Windows and Linux (in its various flavours) have their strong points and weak points.
Most people (myself included a long time ago) try Linux cause they're fed up of parting with a never ending stream of (large amounts of) cash to Mr Gates, but don't get it (or get along with it) because it's not a Windows clone. Linux isn't meant to be Windows (although it's being used that way more thanks to Ubuntu/Kubuntu). You don't 'dis' your digital tv recorder because the interface and background operation isn't the same as what you use on your PC. You expect it to be different and to have to learn its way of doing things so you can enjoy what it has to offer. It's the same with Linux. Just because it runs on a computer and displays on your monitor, don't expect it to be the same as XP/Vista... or whatever and a whole new and sometimes more rewarding or fustrating world presents itself.
I personally use both all the time for the bits that they do best and couldn't imagine working without either one.

Dave - my apologies (and I know you addressed this to Christian, but I'm going to hijack this a bit).
A little bit of history here for you - Chris Maunder uploaded the Linux and PHP forums onto the original CP site and Christian and I happened upon them, where we had a little bit of fun. At this stage I, for one, was unaware that this was going to be a real site, so our comments were entirely frivolous. The comments were never meant to "go live", as the forums were pulled from the original CP site straight away - and of course ended up as a Linux site. (And here's my guilty secret - I first started with Linux back in 95, and have used various versions at one time or another since then).
