Hi ,
I want to retrieve the parent of a selected item in a tree control.
I am using
Selected=(HTREEITEM)SendDlgItemMessage(hWnd,
IDC_TREE1,TVM_GETNEXTITEM,TVGN_CARET,(LPARAM)Selected);
Element = (HTREEITEM)SendDlgItemMessage(hWnd,IDC_TREE1,
TVM_SELECTITEM,TVGN_CARET,(LPARAM)Selected);
SendDlgItemMessage(hWnd,IDC_TREE1,
TVM_GETITEM,TVGN_CARET,(LPARAM)&tvi));
and then
i am using
Parent = (HTREEITEM)SendDlgItemMessage(hWnd,IDC_TREE1,
TVM_SELECTITEM,TVGN_PAREN,(LPARAM)Element );
but i am getting NULL value for Parent.
can any one help me with the problem

What about something like this:

Hi,
I want to dismount the physical disk but DeviceIoControl()function with FSCTL_DISMOUNT_VOLUME control code is not work on physical disk handle.
Is FSCTL_DISMOUNT_VOLUME only used with logical drive handle?

From the documentation: If the operation fails or is pending, DeviceIoControl returns zero (0). To get extended error information, call GetLastError.
Did you try to find out what went wrong by calling GetLastError()?

I have a dialog with a radio button on it. This dialog is modeless and child of CView class. Can I handle the dialog messages like radio button ON_COMMAND in my view class? I am not receiving these messages in my view class. However, if I add a separate class for dialog, then messages are properly received there.

modeless dialogs don't have a message loop. so if you want to process the messages than you need a second GUI thread to launch and show the dialog!
Somethings seem HARD to do, until we know how to do them.

I have a MDI Application(class is view,mainframe and extra class is data).ANd i add dailog(class testdlg) and call it as a domodel.I add list box in dialog and add variable m_add.These m_add variable i want to call data.cpp.

If your dialog is modal, you can't. But as I suggested yesterday, read a good book on MFC because you are really missing out fundamuntal concepts.

I use CToolBarCtrl to create a toolbar in the dialog.
There are 5 buttons in the toolbar.
Initially I set the 3rd button checked.
But it always make the left most button focus.(Highlightly?)I don't want this.

Hi all,
In my sdi application i have various threads running together and whenever some problem occur i close all thread and a modal dialog is displayed. Now my problem is if suppose 16 threads are running together a dialog box is displayed and when i click cancel or ok one by one 16 same dialog boxes are displayed. Now what i want is only one instance of that dialogbox should be displayed not those 16 instances.... how can i do this...
can anybody help me in this??

Simple Solution is use flag.
when you show the dialog for first time set the flag to true and then every time check for this flag before showing dialog. If flag is true don't show the dialog..
I hope that makes sense.
