CSliderCtrl and TB_THUMBTRACK

I don't know whether my VC is messing up or if my MSDN is missing some entries.

I'm trying to handle the TB_THUMBTRACK message for my slider control, ClassWizard has no entry for it and although MSDN mentions it it doesn't specify the format of the handling function??

How do i handle this Message?

is there any reason you want to do a thumb-track on the slider? you get the same results by just using OnHScroll:

void CSettings::OnHScroll(UINT nSBCode, UINT nPos, CScrollBar* pScrollBar) 
{
   CSliderCtrl *theThing=(CSliderCtrl*)pScrollBar;

   if (theThing==(CSliderCtrl *)GetDlgItem(IDC_CONTROL_I_WANT_TO_WATCH)) 
   {
     pos = theThing->GetPos();
   }
}

this will be called every time the thumb moves (just like a THUMBTRACK event on a scrollbar)

different HWND, but same HDC

I've got 4 views that are child windows of one view.
Parent view calls children's specific method to do some drawing.
And in this method different child views have different HWND, but _SAME_ HDC
so drawing occurs only in 1 child view.

any suggestions?

Hi,

I want to open only one set/window (doc + ChildFrame + view) on pressing menu button which replaces OnFileNew().
If the button is pressed again the window shoud be brought forward if it was unactive.
I found CDocTemplate::GetNextDoc() function which stores documents (CDocument*) created for any particular template. If GetFirstDocPosition() gives NULL no document was instantiated therefore no window displayed, so the button should create/displayed this window. Otherwise activate the already existing one. Is my understanding correct or maybe there are more elegant solutions?

so you want only one document to be open in an MDI application?
if a document is open you want it to be "activated", otherwise create a new one?

only one document of any kind.
For example have 4 buttons each for creating diffrent document.
On press any of these buttons I want document to be created if not created already or "activated" if created.
Back to my original question, is there any well known solution to that "problem"

Are you doing Serial communications?
If so, This is ERROR_IO_PENDING and is NO ERROR!!

It just means that WaitCommEvent or ReadFile is busy reading characters but the function returns to let you do some other stuff untill its ready. Or something like that.

Search MSDN Online for "Serial Communications in Win32". This helped me a lot.

Any of the basic Win32 API Books such as Petzold cover MDI. I don't know how Database and MDI fit together though. You are better off to focus on the Document - VIew architecture. MDI/SDI are simply different ways of using that.

I needed to do some compare works with two DVD-ROMs --- the one is a local
dvdrom and the other is a remote dvdrom. My question is how to find/get
the remote dvdrom by using aspi scsi command and some proper internet settings?
Would you please points me some useful materials ?

You can't. ASPI is inherently locked to the HA on the hardware (machine) your program is running on.

It is supported, but be warned it is not backward compatible. It is very likely a VC++6.0 dsw/dsp project does not recompile with 0 error.

Though most errors can be easily handled, some of them turn out to be much tougher in practice, because the STL code (templates everywhere) is behind all MFC code now.

Recompiling the code requires updating stuff either from MFC classes, or ATL classes.

Distribution also changes. Now it is MFC70.DLL, MSVCRT70.DLL, ... (in fact you have a merge module in the VS.NET cd).

Hmmmm! No one's ever called me "cup" before Smile | :)

Anyway making a member function static is easy. Just add static to the function declaration.

For example :-
