Then not only are you not cut out to be a programmer, but a general user as well as you clearly can't select a country in your profile properly as well.
jennie21 wrote: only in semester 2 did we start programming
Then redo your semester I class, as you didn't pay enough attention to get the simplest of homework done. You lied like what 5 times since the original post? First it wasn't homework, then it was, then you just started class, then it's your second class, then you had it done, you just wanted to compare, not you clearly don't have jack sh*t done.
Go home, switch programs into something your capable of.

1. I'm not american
2. NO ONE HERE WILL DO HOMEWORK FOR YOU
3. Where's your code, you said you had it and it won't run, post your source. Maybe you'll get some direction then.

Just like I thought, you got nothing. Go away. Change majors, read a book, study business or economics or social studies, anything else. You are going to fail, miserably.

you mean, americans like YOU[^] ?
listen to this.
You are definitely a beginner in programming, and you obviously cannot know everything. So asking for help is somewhat legitimated.
BUT, you cannot come in a forum and ask "can someone do this or that for me ?".
What you are asking is obviously homework (not an insult, but homework anyway). And then if you can't even do the basics, try yourself what you've been asked to do, and understand what is wrong in it is just not the way to go. homeworks are there to make you learn things. If you ask someone else to do it for you, you will never learn...
and if you definitely cannot do the basics by youself, and if you're not interrested to understand how to do it yourself, then you're in the wrong path, and you should probably think about doing something else of your future life.
Now, if you have so code you want to share, by explaining exactly what is wrong and what you are trying to do, then I'd be glad to help.
But no need to insult other members who are trying to keep a little sanity in this forum.

i do have a program written down and the comment from starting from scratch means im only new and i need a little bit of help so see where im going wrong and it wont run thats why im asking the stupid question and you coming back with stupid comments like that!

So then post your code. Let's see it.

This is very basic stuff, if you can't figure how do it, maybe you have a chance for good readings...

Then tell her to study harder: believe me, doing it for her will be a looser approach to her education.

What data are you talking about? outlook keeps mails in a PST file which you can read if you know it's structure.

From my experience of programming specific interrupts (asm) are prohibited without access to an OS' api. For instance, one could not do a write to a hdd without utilizing an interrupt or in/out vector which has been preapproved by an API. In the case of windows you cannot do a write without win32 (I've tried). In Java, it is my understanding that a thing called the JNI links the OS local API to its own API. Am I correct? Is the JNI responsible for the connection between the two APIs?
|
|
|
|

JNI is Sun's concession to the fact that Java just can't do everything that C or C++ can.
It is an interface to native code, usually in the form of DLLs. It is a horrible horrible beast, and the documentation on it is almost deliberately difficult to understand.
If this is a completely new project, you would be responsible for writing 3 different things. The native code program (pick a language, probably C/C++), the Java front end, and the JNI piece which is also written in native code.
Good luck if that's what you want to do.

I'm not trying to write anything, I'm trying to figure out Java's relationship to an OS. I know the JNI has more functionality, but I thought it also acted as the connection to the OS. What mechanisms allow java to communicate with the native OS? As I said, many things couldn't be done, to my knowledge, without some communication with the OS.

|
|
|
The JVM (Java Virtual Machine) is written in native code, customized for the OS+machine architecture it runs on.
It is the interpreter of Java bytecode and decides how that code should be translated to native code for its platform.
Sun publishes the specs on the JVM so that anybody can write their own.
Don't let my name fool you. That's my job.

----before window.open, I have did some filtering ---
Dim sScriptWindowOpen As String = "<script>window.open('message.htm',null,'left=400, top=100, height=250, width= 250, status=no, resizable= no, scrollbars= no, toolbar= no, location = no, menubar = no');</script>"
ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Me.GetType(), "anything", sScriptWindowOpen)
End sub

Have you tried RegisterClientScriptBlock instead of RegisterStartupScript?
