Hi all,
I have a question regarding datatable.
I have a text file, whose fields have to be compared with columns in .dbf file and write the difference fields into an excel sheet.
I have to approaches in mind.
1)To create a datatable and then compare both the tables.
2)To have it as a textfile and compare directly with the tables.
Which is the most efficient way and how to go ahead with the approaches?
Thanks in advance

Personally, if those where my choices I would go with #1, but the easiest way would be to load all values into separate excel sheets and use the functions excel has to do any comparison, so sheet 1 would have your text file values, sheet 2 would have your .dbf values and sheet3 would just need a formula to calculate the difference of values. All your application would have to do is simply copy values..

Hi All,
I am Creating file Using Admin Account and save information on it. But when i m trying to save information using guest account it can't save. because file have not Permission for Modification and Write.
So Please suggest me How to set Write or Modification Permission for ALL Users.
Thanks
If you can think then I Can.
|
|
|
|

You don't make change to the permissions. That's left up to the LAN administrators.
Your applications design has to take into account that Guest accounts have permissions to almost nothing. They shouldn't even be enabled in 99% of corporate situations. Where are you trying to save this file and why?
|
|
|
|
|
I want to set Write and Modify permission of File Guest Account By using Admin Account.
If you can think then I Can.
|
|
|
|
|
As Dave said, that cannot be done. Permissions should be set by administrators, not rogue applications trying to escalate permissions. For obvious security reasons, that shouldn't be done and you shouldn't incorporate that into your design. I'd rethink your approach.

|
|
|
|
If your app is being run under a Guest account, or any other account for that matter, it cannot grant more permissions to itself than it already has. What you want to do cannot be done.
|
|
|
|
|
As has been pointed you cannot and should not try to alter the permissions of a guest account. If, however, your application requires, for instance the ability to create and delete text files you can use impersonation.

Hello.
I'm trying to send email from VB.NET code using my yahoo account.
Pop3 and smtp server is enabled.
Code what i'm using is:
Imports System.Net.Mail
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Send_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Send.Click
Dim fromAddress As New MailAddress(Email.Text, Email.Text)
Dim toAddress As New MailAddress(ToEmail.Text, ToEmail.Text)
Dim msg As New MailMessage(fromAddress, toAddress)
msg.Body = Message.Text
msg.Subject = "test message"
msg.IsBodyHtml = True
Dim credential As New System.Net.NetworkCredential(Email.Text, Password.Text)
Dim mailSender As New System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient()
mailSender.Host = "smtp.mail.yahoo.com"
mailSender.Port = 465
mailSender.EnableSsl = True
mailSender.Credentials = credential
Try
mailSender.Send(msg)
MsgBox("Message sent")
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.Message)
End Try
End Sub
End Class
I have an exception. "Send message failure." all the time.
Do you have any ideas where my problem is ?

First change MsgBox(ex.Message) to MsgBox(ex.ToString)
That will tell you more about the actual error.

Radzivil Vladimir wrote: System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection
This suggests that you should look for the problem in the connection to the smtp server.
Radzivil Vladimir wrote
Dim credential As New System.Net.NetworkCredential(Email.Text, Password.Text)
Dim mailSender As New System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient()
mailSender.Host = "smtp.mail.yahoo.com"
mailSender.Port = 465
mailSender.EnableSsl = True
mailSender.Credentials = credential
So probably the first thing to check is this code. Is the host correct, and the port. Should SSL be enabled or not. You could test commenting out mailSender.Port and/or mailSender.EnableSsl
Is there a mistake in the password maybe? Perhaps the implicit conversion between Cyrillic and Latin scripts causes a wrong password or email address?
I am sorry, I can't really say more about this. If it keeps failing, you could search the net for Yahoo related code.
Good luck,
Johan

Columns("A:E").ColumnWidth = 20

If you want it like a particular cell try this...
Range("F4").Select<br />
Selection.Copy<br />
Range("H4").Select<br />
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteFormats, Operation:=xlNone, _<br />
SkipBlanks:=False, Transpose:=False

I have a Visual Basic6.0 application, which uses alorithms to calculate the results for one particular device. Everytime i have a minor changes in the Algorithm to have a different device. Example a device with some added features or removed features, this cannot be generalized to have a feature selections in the GUI as there may be a different device itself.
My question is it possible to have a Algorithm as a macro in my VB 6.0 Application(such as excel marcos), this way I need not change the execuatable everytime I can only change the marco. Or Is it possible to write a algorithm in a text file which will read the file as source code and behave the application as it is written in the text file?

If it is at all possible for you to not use vb6, it is possible in .NET:
See this article[^] which does it in C#.
