1-to-5 votes and up/down votes (on articles, on messages) used to get a weight depending on voter status (bronze=1, silver=2, gold=4, platinum=?). See "How are ratings calculated?" here[^].
Q1. Now overall status is gone, how will votes be weighed?
Q2. The latest recalculation has significantly (some 20%) increased Author, Authority, and Debator totals for several people. What happened?

Also, is there any overall 'Membership' status? or What would be the driving status anywhere for weightage?
There must be a good difference between weigthage of a Platinum Enquirer & Platinum Authority, right? Both are platinum status but roles are at extreme opposite ends. Is that considered?modified on Saturday, March 13, 2010 1:26 AM

Weighting is based on the reputation type you are voting for. Eg. If you are voting for an article then the weighting depends on your Author status. The better an author you are, the more your vote counts. Same for forum messsages. cheers,

wanted to know: What role does a Enquirer reputation play?
Infact, we have quite a few who has negative points with them!
An enquirer asks questions, see FAQ here[^]; questions can be down-voted.
Yes Luc... i know that. Thanks. But here is what i meant:
1. My point is, whats the significance of having a Platinum enquirer?
2. We have negative points enquirer too, so should we have a cap on that too, such that question quality increases. People get negative points, still they continue on an on... have a look at
this person[^]...
further he never closes a question if he got replied or not.

AFAIK enquirer status isn't used anywhere, except for showing it amongst all statuses.
This has been my major remark about the whole reputation thing: there is an extensive FAQ explaining what goes in, and nothing about what comes out, where and how it gets used. And now it shows that a couple of things are failing, as suddenly reputable people can't edit questions any more, etc.
Thanks
1. That information might be added to the rep FAQ.
2. It will be confusing people unless stated explicitly. Example[^].

sign-up ==> 100 points ==> bronze
weekend ==> recalculation ==> rep gone

Are you talking about a specific account? Sorry Luc, but it's been a big week and I can't seem to grasp the specifics of your bug report.
I'm currently recalculating reputatation. It will take another 3 or so hours to complete. If you're still seeing the issue after that then we have a problem and we'll fix it.cheers,

any one signing up gets 100 participation points, which makes him bronze right away. Is that what you intend to happen?

I once got a medal for 64th place in a 5K with about 100 people... wouldn't want to leave anybody out!

All participants in CodeProject and Paralympics get a medal.
I hope that is a coincidence...

Don't worry Luc. We all think you're special. "WPF has many lovers. It's a veritable porn star!" - Josh Smith As Braveheart once said, "You can take our freedom but you'll never take our Hobnobs!" - Martin Hughes.

Kind of makes sense when you take into account that people can lose reputation too.
If they don't respect the site, or post rubbish, they will soon lose their free Bronze and will have to go about earning it back, and even a brand new member will have a better status/rep than them - sounds good to me!Dave

I just did a fairly major update of the site so you were probably stuck in the middle. Sorry about that. cheers,

Looking at the Reputation FAQ it only makes reference to votes.
Is 'Report' activities taken into consideration under the organiser system? If not, can it be? Reporting bad messages/questions/answers/articles are all important to maintaining the high standard of the site.
