There are many websites offering advt campaign. There.. they say that the charge is per XXX impresssions. Just displaying the advt for XXX times. How is this calculated and the XXX times is achieved??
I just wanted to know the method a person can implement in the site??

We have an application which consists of a SOAP Web Service and a client of the service, which runs as a NT service.
This works well with http, but does not with https. There is no problem if we use IE to query the Web Service in https, but the SOAP client cannot.
We noticed that the SOAP client is not even trying to initiate the TCP connection (SYN), as if it was trying to do something SLL-related prior to open the actual socket.
The connection works on most environments, except on ones where the security has been harnessed (correct wording?).
Anybody has any idea of what is wrong?

Is client authentication required?
If so, the SOAP client may lack a valid certificate.
If not, the client may be unable to load the CA-chain and thus is unable to verify the server.
More information is required to be more precise.

Maybe you misread:
We noticed that the SOAP client is not even trying to initiate the TCP connection (SYN), as if it was trying to do something SLL-related prior to open the actual socket.
So the client does not even have the chance to get the certificate, because it is not even able to perform the TCP SYN (like it is not trying to open the socket). If we use regular HTTP, everything works fine.

Disclaimer: Haven't done any serious SSL programming for a couple of years...
What I was talking about is that you can specify before opening the connection that server authentication is required.
If so, if no CA-chain has been loaded there is no point in trying to open the connection since the server can't be authenticated anyway.
Clientside authentication shouldn't be a problem since if I remeber correctly, the server will ask for the certificate if needed (configured).
The configured ciphersuite shouldn't be a problem either since that is handled during the handshake.
TIP: Go to www.openssl.org[^], download and compile. Try connection with the SSL tools, they are pretty neat (a bit hard to use the first time though).

In fact, workaround found. We changed the client to use the CSoapWininetClient instead of CSoapSocketClientT.
We found a workaround, but we still don't know why we add the errors with the first class. Missing step?

This isn't a development problem but someone may have experienced something similar ...
I recently signed up for another ISP and I've been experiencing a strange problem.
Every so often, usually after reading an email that contains web content, I get a pop-up dialog that looks like this:
It is a dialog box titled "Dial-Up Networking."
It contains 3 buttons
"Yes, dial", "No, do not dial = 11", "Settings >>"
The second button counts down in seconds until the dialog disappears.
Then it shows a drop down
Dialing from "New Location"
Then two check boxes
Disable auto-dial for this logon session
Always prompt before auto-dialing
It then disappears after a few seconds and then reappears until I select "Disable auto-dial for this logon session"
I have several other internet connections and I wasn't experiencing this behaviour prior to installing a new ISP. Has something been installed or congfigured behind the scenes?
My set-up is:
Windows NT 4 Service Pack 3
IE 5.5 (without service pack)
Outlook Express 5.5

i have a page (ChangePreferences.asp), which is accessed via a link on Page1.asp. ChangePreferences.asp can also be accessed from links on other pages. Having processed the information received from ChangePreferences.asp, how do i redirect back to the page from which it was accessed? (ie it could have come from page1.asp or page2.asp etc). could i use something like Session("lastpage") and redirect back to that? Thank you!

The easiest way to do this is to put the referring page in the querystring when you link to ChangePreferences.asp, i.e. page1.asp might have this:
<a href="ChangePreferences.asp?redir=page1.asp">Blah</a>
then in ChangePreferences.asp (I'm assuming you have a form which is submitted on this page and then you want to redirect)
make sure you persist the redir value, either by appending it to the form action (e.g. <form action="ChangePreferences.asp?redir=<%=request.querystring("redir")%>", or by adding it as a hidden input.
then once you've done the processing simply do either:
Response.Redirect (Request.Form("redir"))
or
Response.Redirect (Request.QueryString("redir"))
depending on how you maintained the value of redir.

i have a page which allows a user to change their colour preferences. Having chosen from radio buttons, the information is submitted to a ChangingColour page which processes the information using the following code:

Hi this is a little OT
My problem best fits in this discussion board though.
Basically I have wget'ed a site. Say www.mysite.com and riddled all through it is HREF references such as www.mysite.com/part2.htm. Now that I have the whole site locally I would like to be able to view each bit without having to be on the net. So the question is there a HTML that will do the right thing and recursively strip the root URL out of the correct places and leave the references intact. I suppose you could use sed or perl but I was wondering if there was some tool that would do it a bit neater. e.g I suspect other tools might blindly strip some URLS out when that is not wanted.

Offline mode does not work ? As long as your site is known by IE (is in the cache), it solves urls even if they point to web sites.

Yes of course, the webpage has already been ripped with wget just it was written poorly and has references to its self instead of relative. I was looking for an automated tool that would fix it.

Yes, indeed.
Remember the custom error page is no different to any other page on your server, IIS has simply been told about it, that is all. So you can put whatever you want in.
However, saying that it is best to have a simple custom error page to ensure it loads fast and does not rely on too many other components which may be the cause of being sent to the error page in the first place.

Is there a way to move a file using a physical path instead of virtual? I want to move a file that is not available in my www folder, but rather in my db folder where my databases are. I want to rename an uploaded file to the value of a variable in the database.
objFSO.MoveFile Server.MapPath("d:/inetpub/domain/db/images/"&File.FileName&""),
Server.MapPath("d:/inetpub/domain/db/images/"&funeralID&".jpg")
of course won't work. I need to change this to a physical path but am unable to get anything I try to work...is there another function or syntax for the movefile function that i can use? thanks for your help!

Surely they are all ready physical paths? 
Try something like...
objFSO.MoveFile Server.MapPath("../db/images/"&File.FileName&""),
Server.MapPath("../db/images/"&funeralID&".jpg")
...where the paths are relative from the location of the script containing the VBScript. Server.MapPath will return the physical path for you.

Does anyone know if it is safe to involve Automation inside a CGI Application ?
(I have got many problems with Lotus123.Workbook.98 Automation : Automation Server can not be closed after used and CGI application can run once - the first time that Automation started !).
Is there any techniques for IIS (ASP) to interact or to involve executable file on server ?

Hi,
I have IIS running on w2k pro with all sp's instaled. When I do iisreset and then I call asp or isapi app on my localhost, that first call is realllly slow if application settings is set to medium or high. After the first call everything is working fine.
What is the problem here?...

This is not a problem.. First time you navigate to a page, IIS "initializes" itself. Also if you have any database connections, it takes time to connect, then IIS keeps it in connection pool.. and so on.
So everything is ok
