Hi all,
I am using mySQL on winXP PE. After installing mySQL, I created C:\Inetpub\wwwroot
With the help of ODBC I configured "Shop".
In my ASP script I get the following error when I try to call:
DBConn.open ("Shop")
Error:
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source is not found and no standard drive routine is
given.
/shop/init.asp, line 11
where "shop" is a catalogu as below:
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\shop\
What can be the possible reason?
I have spent a lot of time without any result. Hope someone can help me.
thanks in advance

Hi,
I've read on this site how to retrieve some email from a POP3 server, but I need to build a program (in C++\C#\Java) that can get email from an existing hotmail account. So there won't be a POP3 server to communicate with.
Please help me by mailing some suggestions or solutions to boudewijnector@planet.nl
Thank you!

can anyone speed me up here so I can avoid spending too much time digging up too much?
QUESTION 1:
I know in ASP.NET you can load data from SQL server into a DataSet, then have the dataset to format the data in XML. You can pre-load a static xsd file from disk to validate your XML doc.
Here's a code snippet from learnxmlws.com:
Dim schemaCache As MSXML2.XMLSchemaCache40
Set schemaCache = New MSXML2.XMLSchemaCache40
schemaCache.Add "", "C:\myschema.xsd"
Dim doc As MSXML2.DOMDocument40
Set doc = New MSXML2.DOMDocument40
set doc.schemas = schemaCache
Question is, how can you then load a static xsl schema from disk and load the XML to screen? Can you quote the APIs and some URL which I can read up on?
QUESTION 2:
some pages are already written in ASP, can I have a form written in ASP that POST/GET parameters to an aspx page? Vice Versa? From aspx to asp? I'm rather new to ASP.NET and have only tried out a few things.
QUESTION 3:
How can you do what I mentioned in QUESTION 1 but in VBScript/classical ASP?
Thanks a bunch.

I used to have a small code snippet (I believe it was javascript) that allowed me to have a page pull up a different image each time the page was loaded. The images were kept in a specified folder and each time the page was refreshed or revisited a different photo would show up. I have searched for days and can't find anything anywhere!! Does anyone have this code or something similar?
I am looking because I have a small client who has photos of office staff and drivers from 3 offices that all need to be displayed but they are not worthy of their own page.
Help!
|
|
|
|
|
If the list if images is not going to change (or at least not going to change much) then this should be easy to accomplish with some simple JavaScript.
I am making an assumption that you are familiar with JavaScript and will be able to run on your own with the following code snippets. If not, then let me know.
var arrOfPics = new Array(10);
arrOfPics[0] = "images/Joe.jpg";
arrOfPics[1] = "images/Sue.jpg";
arrOfPics[2] = "images/John.jpg";
arrOfPics[3] = "images/Peter.jpg";
arrOfPics[4] = "images/Paul.jpg";
arrOfPics[5] = "images/Mary.jpg";
arrOfPics[6] = "images/Eddy.jpg";
arrOfPics[7] = "images/Jason.jpg";
arrOfPics[8] = "images/Wanda.jpg";
arrOfPics[9] = "images/Albert.jpg";
Once you have created an array of the location to the pictures you possibly want to display all you need to do is randomly choose one and write the HTML to display the image. The easiest way that I can think do that is to do something like the following:
<script>
document.write("<img src=" + arrOfPics[Math.floor(Math.random()*10)] + ">");
</script>
That should do it ... of course you could create a Server-Side script (if that is an option) that could do basically the same thing, but you mentioned JavaScript and that makes plenty of sense for something like this.
Every time this page is loaded a new random image will be selected from the array to be displayed.

I need help. I have javascript menu's running on my site and they work fine up until I do a postbacka nd then the javascript doesn't run. I know that MS put out a patch for this but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Is there a way to make suree that on every postback to the page that the javascript will load? I know that if I hit refresh that the menu's will reload while maintaining the state of the page but I can't excatly tell the user to refresh the page if the menu's don't work. Or does someone know where I can get a menu system (referrably top down) that will not be effected by postbacks?

Hello,
I would like to write:
Whenever I do this I end up with something like "Error: Object Expected" later on in my HTML file. the same happens if I use an absolute URL.
However, when I put my include file in the same folder and write:
<script src="testinclude.js" language="javascript">
there is no problem.
Can include files only be in the same folder as the pages that reference them, or have I got the wrong syntax?
Kevin

|

Ah, the joy of debugging JavaScript. First, are you sure that the error you are getting is due to the JS file not being included into you page? (i.e. the object that you are trying to create is within the JS file)
If your answer is yes to the above question then we need to look at how the file is being referenced. My first instinct is that for some reason it did not like traversing up a level in the file structure with the use of the ".." however, after testing it locally here on my machine that should not be the case.
The file that you are trying to include should be accessible as long as it is accessible to the web (for example, can you open or download the JS file from your web browser?).
If you could, please give a scenario of your file structure to help solve this issue. And, if possible, a URL (if publicly accessible).
|
|
|
|
|
I've now solved the problem. I had placed my file in a directory called "scripts" and ASP (or IIS) didn't like that!

Congratz on solving the issue ... I wouldn't have thought of that one.

Hi, i have this html file (it's bug free) which i subsequently renamed to an asp file. NO change to the content - just renaming the file extension from html to asp. But IIS failed to display the asp file. The clue it offers is too general - "HTTP Internal Server Error 500"
I am pretty clueless since the html file loaded WITHOUT a problem.
Anyway, here's the code, I hope someone can point me to the right direction:
<SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript">
var rollOverArr=new Array();
function setrollover(OverImgSrc,pageImageName)
{
if (! document.images)return;
if (pageImageName == null)
pageImageName = document.images[document.images.length-1].name;
rollOverArr[pageImageName]=new Object;
rollOverArr[pageImageName].overImg = new Image;
rollOverArr[pageImageName].overImg.src=OverImgSrc;
}
function rollover(pageImageName)
{
if (! document.images)return;
if (! rollOverArr[pageImageName])return;
if (! rollOverArr[pageImageName].outImg)
{
rollOverArr[pageImageName].outImg = new Image;
rollOverArr[pageImageName].outImg.src = document.images[pageImageName].src;
}
document.images[pageImageName].src=rollOverArr[pageImageName].overImg.src;
}
function rollout(pageImageName)

First thing to do: In IE, go to Tools->Internet Options, click the Advanced tab and uncheck "Show friendly HTTP error messages".
Try it again and you should get an error message that gives you a better clue.
Friendly error messages are not friendly to developers.

Hey Norm,
The errors were pretty much unclosed tags.
All the comments were open, ( like this <!-- comment ) so I closed those (<!-- comment -->), placed the Javascript code between the <HEAD> tags and closed the <IMG SRC> tags that were not closed correctlly (<img src="x" width=x hieght=x)

hi, i'm just wondering if anyone has spent time on message boards that assumes a tree/hierachical structure - example: code project.
u can have a table of "threads". But each thread can have "child" threads and "child" threads can, in turn, have a whole bunch of child threads.
I know u can use a tree control (by the way, any suggestion?), but how can you store tree/hierachical data in a SQL server (relational database)? What's the best way to store hierachical data in this application?
Let me venture a guess... encode the structure in a char field. Say...
msgID="12-3-5"
parsing the msgID field:
(a) thread 12
(b) level one msg 3
(c) level two msg 5
Then, you'll need to build a parser. Parse, then load the data into the right place in a tree control... so clumsy... any suggestion?
Thanks!
