It seems that broken zip file links are not handled properly. When I am downloading some zip files, i was getting 0 byte files.
On checking further, if I type an invalid zip file link[^], it was getting a blank page.

I've just tried downloading some files and it's all working for me.
Can you please send me a link to a specific article that's showing problems? Which browser are you using, and do you have any anti-virus, anti-malware or ad blockers installed?

In Q&A it seems that it's not mandatory to define a tag for the question, but when the question is edited the tag is mandatory. Shouldn't it be mandatory also when the question is created. One example was: Event time on Google analytic[^]

Thanks for the excuse, Mika.

We have a filter in place to check that you include a tag when posting. However, there is an issue in that if you enter a non-existent tag and don't have the rights to create tags then no tag will be added to the question.
A bug.

When I submit an article, I use the four step article wizard. I tend to write my article in another editor (Visual Studio or Notepad) in html. Then in step 3 where you get to the editor, I switch the editor to raw html (with the "<>"), and then copy and paste my html into the editor.
Problem is that the editor then throws away or mangles all line breaks. This is a big problem, because it messes up all the code inside <pre...> tags. I then have to format my code again inside the editor to make the code (inside the <pre...> tags) look right - which is a big pain.
I use Google Chrome.
Looks to me like this is a definite bug.
Is there any way to copy and paste article html into the editor without losing your line breaks?

This may work as a temporary workaround until they fix the editor...
Some editors/browsers use \r\n (carriage return, line feed) for the line ending, and others use \n (line feed) for the line ending. I suspect this is why you are running into issues. You might want to try copying the text when it has the various types of line endings. I use a custom regex tool when I want to change line endings, but I'm sure you can figure out your own way (probably some text editor has a function to change line endings).

Hi Chris,
I reproduced the problem - detailed steps below this email.
I created a test article with basename
testarticle1
(should still be in the codeproject database). The text of that article is below the steps to reproduce.
While reproducing the problem, I took screenshots. Would be happy to send those to you.
While accessing codeproject.com, used Chrome under Windows 7. Had the same problem with Chrome under Windows Server 2003.
Matt
Ps.: Regarding the message editor on the code project forum page (where I'm posting this message) - when you use html tags in your message, they don't appear in the preview, or get interpreted as html in the preview (as expected). But if you then check the "Treat my content as plain text, not as HTML" checkbox below the preview, that doesn't change the preview - it continues to treat your content as HTML. I'm under the impression this is a bug in at least the previewer.
-------------------------------
Steps to reproduce
1)
I've got an article in my blog, which is powered by BlogEngine. It is hosted on a Windows server (using IIS 7).
2)
In BlogEngine, started editor on the article, switched to Raw Html view.
3)
Started Notepad. Copied the HTML from BlogEngine to Notepad.
4)
Opened codeproject.com. Logged in. Started article submission wizard.
5)
Filled out form on first page.
Basename
testarticle1
Article Title
Test Article 1
One Line Description
Test Article 1 Description
Didn't upload images on second page.
6)
On third page (with the code project editor), checked "Work in Progress - do not make public". Then clicked <> on the editor to switch editor to HTML mode.
7)
Highlighted the prefilled text (control-A) and deleted it (Delete button).
8)
Highlighted all text in Notepad (control-A) and copy and pasted it to the code project editor (control-C, control-V).
9)
Clicked the Preview button. New browser window opened with the preview. This showed that the newlines within the article had been removed, including the ones within the pre tag.
10)
Went back to the browser window with the code project editor. Clicked <> to switch off HTML mode, then clicked <> again to switch on HTML again. Saw in the editor that the newlines had been removed.

Gather Detailed Locking Information
You can find out which queries are involved in excessive locking delays by tracing the event "Blocked process report" in SQL Server Profiler.
This event fires when the lock wait time for a query exceeds the "blocked process threshold". To set this threshold to for example 30 seconds, run the following lines in a query window in SSMS:
EXEC sp_configure 'show advanced options', 1
RECONFIGURE
EXEC sp_configure 'blocked process threshold', 30
RECONFIGURE
Then start the trace in Profiler:

I copy and pasted:

into the article editor (in chrome) and flipped back and forth between HTML and design mode and could not get it to misbehave. Maybe you are copying CR, not CR/LF terminated text from Notepad?

What do you write your article content with? I use Visual Studio and don't have any problems copy/pasting into the wizard.
You can also click the checkbox that says something along the lines of "Don't mess with the HTML, I know what I'm doing. If you don't check that, sometimes the code is reformatted and tags are changed.

Hi,
Just tried to vote on a post in the C# forum and where the vote count normally appears it changed to

Retried voting after an F5 and worked OK.

I am not sure if the issue is with browsers on a mobile device in general or just with dolphin but the urls are pasted as plain text without any prompt as is given on desktop.
This happens in both full site and mobile views.
My specs are here http://www.codeproject.com/Messages/4086599/Re-Post-preview-in-Dolphin-HD-browser.aspx

This happens only in the mobile view.
Clicking on a message post to view on the forums at the end of every article and survey causes the page to reload whereas other forums behave the same as on desktop.
It would be a lot beneficial if these two are made like others.
I run android 2.2 on HTC desire and specs as I said here http://www.codeproject.com/Messages/4086599/Re-Post-preview-in-Dolphin-HD-browser.aspx.
And oh as you can see the url thing didn't paste property. I'd make a new post about that.

Hi,
Just as a side note, I have found DolphinHD to be very troublesome lately. I have a Samsung 10.1 tablet, and find that the inbuilt browser can often be a lot better than Dolphin HD.
I am waiting for the ICS update to the tablet to see how much they have improved it further in Android 4.

Hi,
My experience with dolphin has been opposite ! The built-in browser that came with desire was very very restrictive. After I switched to dolphin, the surfing experience has improved massively. The tabbed UI and gestures for one have been tremendously productive.
On the flip side, it does kinda crash sometimes when more than ten tabs are opened and seems sluggish but I rarely open that many tabs.
Having said that I wonder if apps behave differently on a tablet than on a phone, and if so then why so.

The main reason I'm posting is that on the forums, clicking on a new post to open its contents does just that, but then the entire page refreshes and you have to scroll down again to the post you just opened.
Also, seeing as you have a mobile version of the site, why is everything so small and the page so wide?

Hello,
I have a few articles that I deleted, however they still show in my articles list. Within the articles list (My Articles), I clicked on the red cross icon (next to 'Restore') to delete them permanently. The loading indicator is showing, and waiting for about 2-3 hours, it still "processes" - but nothing is actually happening. Is there a way I can delete these articles permanently and remove them from my articles list?
