OK, I don't know if this'll fly, but how about that a rainbow background to the gear inside the window (but not the whole window--a rainbow arch only). I'm not particularly fond of the starburst in the upper right corner. Perhaps the rainbow arch could start in the lower left corner of the window, go behind the gear, and extend outside the window in the upper right, concluding either at the halfway point or continuing until it was again on the same horizontal plane as where it started.
If you did the latter, and it were big enough, you could sprinkle some little GUI controls around the rainbow too!
Erm... what do you think? Is this too much feedback?!?!?
Thank you for taking the initiative to even attempt a logo!

I have a nice menu picture. I might use it in mine, and if Joel wants to use it, I can upload it for him, too.

Oh good grief. Using the GUILD acronym, you could have the rainbow end in a pot of, not gold, but GUI controls!

Some GUI control screenshots would be right handy about now. Also, where do I get good pictures of animals? Webshots has lots of un-copyrighted pictures, but I don't see that the owners would be too pleased to see them used on a logo.
Hmmm...Didn't someone just post zoo pictures?
What I'd like to see is a lion face or something like that, that I can do an oil painting effect on.

I don't want to stifle innovation, but please, no more new CP2 posts in the forum. I like the enthusiasm, but its not the right time for this yet. Anyway, this is a project specific post that should be discussed by project team members and teams have not been established yet.
I don't want to draw attention away from more pressing matters.
thanks, I'm sure you understand

What I would like to do now is open up nominations for project leaders of our 3 winning ideas.
After the leaders are picked, I will have an "assignment" for them and we will open up some more discussions on the winning projects.
Below this message are 3 messages, one for each idea, and I would like the CPP volunteers to reply to each one with their nominations for project leader. If the person nominated feels their resources can be used in a better way or if they just don't want the responsibility, then they can opt out.
Here are my recommendations for project leaders:
Defect Tracking, etc. - Anders Molin
UGLY - Tom Welch
App. Framework - Marc Clifton (no offense to jdunlap, but Marc has more experience at CP and jdunlap has only been here 3 months.)
These are only recommendations so the collective nominations will supercede my own.
Again, I ask that all new threads about CPP in this forum be started by me. If you wish to discuss a topic, please make a <a href="http://www.codeproject.com/script/profile/whos_who.asp?id=36966&df=100&forumid=5105&app=50&select=513418#xx513418xx">RFC</a>[<a target=_blank title='New Window' href="http://www.codeproject.com/script/profile/whos_who.asp?id=36966&df=100&forumid=5105&app=50&select=513418#xx513418xx">^</a>] on my profile page.

If you think someone else would do better, suggest him/her. But otherwise, Anders Molin would probably be just fine.

Yikes!
I do have a lot of relevent experience in the area, but I should be considered as a last resort. I do suffer from lack of time for extra-time projects outside of work, this is why my article pipeline is currently stalled (with about 5 pending/semi researched articles in it).
I also have not really had any experience running a team having been a stand-alone programmer most of my career - until the last year, where I didn't want the management role as there can be too much sh!t to take care of.
That said, if I did end up as the leader, I do have a semi-system worked out for it.

I don't really know anyone at CP's particular giftings... But what I do know is that UGLY and the Framework will not stay appart for long so presumable the leaders need to be able to work together as a pair.
Also which of you people out there have any experiance in leadership??

This is very important. Although I have good programming skills, I'm not too good at leadership. Jason Henderson seems to be a good leader, but we may need him for the general coordination and the coordination between teams.
Maybe we could have the people with leadership experience speak up, because right now we really don't know people's backgrounds very well.
